I Can't Get My front foot on a kickflip, what do I do? |
This is THEE most common problem when learning kickflips. If I didn't have this problem it probably would of token me 2 weeks to learn to kickflip. But I did so it took me 4 months or so. The most important tip I can give you is keep at it. This trick really takes some time to learn for some people. Some people don't have this problem and they can do it right away. That's how it is, unfair. The first thing you have to do is have a really good feel for the trick, you should be able to spin it no problem before you even think about landing it. When you can spin it no problem then you have to learn to land it. The best thing to do is just to land it upside down. Just keep doing that until you get really good at that. Then put both things together and you should get it. I know it doesn't sound too helpful but it is how you do it. Getting the spin down perfect might take you a month of practicing about 30 minutes a day and skating 3-5 times a week. The upside down landing might take you half of month of practice and then putting it all together and landing it might take another half month. This is a really common problem and I am carefully studying why this is and if there is a quick fix then what is it. |
Why did you make Skateboard City? |
It started out just for fun. My first site had no content and it was really confusing to build it. My host was maxpages and they have a very limited design. I always wanted a drag and drop page builder. Then I found geocities. I decided that it would be cool to start a site about something I like so I thought about skateboarding. It all began in January 2001. I started Skateboard City, don't know why I call it that, just kind of has a nice ring to it, I sometimes say it in my head like Skate-board Citeee. I didn't know anything about making sites. I saw other sites with what I now know are HTML tables, I didn't know that back then. So I tried to make tables with images of black lines. It worked out alright... I wrote about 2-3 trick tips every day and that was the main focus in building this site. I had about 50 then soon 75 then 100 then... well you get it. I am at 160 er something now. I guess it worked out good for me too, not many skate sites were around and it was the time where the internet started to become really popular. After about 4 months of really hard work I was getting 75 visits a day. I soon started to get 200 and I got a big promotion from skateboard.com as I became site of the week. That week I had about 800 visits a day. It went back down to normal, but I did gain about 50 visits a day more :) I just worked and worked and now this site is what it is. I liked it, I like learning this kind of stuff, that's why I do it in my spare time. I invest a lot of time and money to it but it is returned to me in double by thank you letters and more money! |
Who are you sponsored by? |
Myself? Skateboard City? lol :) |
How long Have you been skateboarding? |
Well when I was very young, 7 or so I got a skateboard I didn't do anything. I could Ollie a hockey stick and manual pretty long. I did that for about 4 years then I really started skating, it opened up and saw the sport. I don't know lets just say a couple years. |
How did you start skateboarding? |
Well, at my old house my neighbour had a banana board, we came over to his house for dinner (I was really, young like 5 or 6) and me and my brother started to play with the skateboard later. Everytime we saw him outside we would ask if we could use the skateboard. One day he asked and said, if you bring me a coke can, I will give you the skateboard for free. so we got it for him and we got the skateboard. |
How do you land a Kickflip? |
I think you should just keep at it, read my trick tip and maybe print it out, keep it with you and just practice. Try, read, practice? |
What is your setup? |
Right now I am riding Grind King trucks (Green), Hook-ups wheels (Clear Green) Element Board (green), lucky risers (Clear Green) and black panther bearings. |
