Varial Flip
By Tom-E at 2006-01-21 15:12

The Varial Flip is a combination of the kickflip and B/S Pop Shove-It. It is crucial that you have these tricks on lock before attempting to learn Varial Flips.

Put your feet in the same way you would to kickflip. Don't put your back foot where you would for a pop-shove-it, the board usually spins that part by itself. Try to spin the board a kickflip pop shove-it. Jump to the side and keep the board under your feet at all times. When you see that the board has completed its rotation, stomp it and roll out.

If it doesn't spin the pop shove-it, then put your foot where you would for a pop shove-it. If the kickflip doesn't spin quick enough then you need to put it in closer to the middle of the board. Always have balance when taking off or you will never land it. The most common problem is that the board ends up landing a foot in front of you. To solve this problem you need to jump the same way the board does. You have to visualize where the board is going to land. Always have balance when taking off and always have the board under your feet. If the board is just plain spinning to slow then you need to move at a comfortable speed until the spin gets closer to completion.

Commitment is very crucial in landing this trick. You may find yourself opening your legs to avoid the board when you're about to land. This is because you are afraid of falling. The only way to conquer the fear is to practice,  and tell yourself nothing bad will happen.

Once you have learned Varial Flips, you should move on to Heel Varials. Also, you can learn 360 Pop Shove-Its and give 360 Flips a shot.

Good Luck!

if anyone is having trouble with this trick then follow this tip: put your back foot like you would a 360 shuvit except not as extreme then put your front foot just above half way and right on the edge. spin it with your back foot and kick hard then flick fast with your front foot after it has turned a while then jump high and a bit forward..
i find this trick is easier to catch but it can be scary so first do it onto grass then on rocky road so it wont slip out the on normal ground before you try moving..
after you have got it consistant like this you can start moving your feet more to the kickflip stance.

just ride normal and put you back foot in pop shuvit position and your front in kick flip and when you flip it. suck up really high and wait. Practice untill you can land on the bolts.

does the board do a 180 kickflip yeh? if so, i can do this, but i cant kickflip its weird. This tricks pretty easy cuz ur feet are easy to put on the board at the end, but i cant get my feet on for kickflip.
