Thunder Thomas Truck review
By reptiskate52 at 2007-10-18 15:48

The subject of my review for today is of a set of trucks I recieved as a present about a year ago. A year gone and they're still running strong. First, some background info on Thunder. Thunder truck company is a division of Deluxe distribution, accompanying Real skateboards, Anti-Hero skateboards, Krooked skateboards and Spitfire wheels. Thunder trucks carries a wide and extensive team, which consists of: Jamie Thomas, Chris Cole, Billy Marks, Leo Romero, John Rattray, Rick McCrank, Marc Johnson, JT Aultz, Sean Malto, Johnny Layton, David Clark, Justin Brock, Peter Ramondetta, Dennis Busenitz, Erik Ellington, Ed Templeton, Mark Appleyard and many more. The review I'll be doing today is of Jamie Thomas's signature truck.

Durability:
Like I said before, over a year and no big flaws. Just the standard filing, denting and scratching that come naturally with all trucks. No metal splinters and the graphic has yet to fade. The downside? The kingpin and bolt filed down to a point where they can't be loosened at all, not to big of a deal as long as you loosen and tighten the bolt every once and a while to keep it from locking up. The most important thing you should know about these trucks, though, is that you'll want to replace the bushings immediately. After three weeks of skating, they were cracked/shredded on both trucks.

Response:
Perfect. Whether you skate loose or tight, you'll always get a fast, controlled response. Fishtailing stays to a minimum on fast surfaces, giving you a better sense of balance and control. Although I usually skate tight, I know that even when you skate loose you'll have a grat sense of control and balance. Plus, when tightened, wheel bite is at 0 to none.
Grind:
The best. Locks in perfectly to almost ever surface and doesn't file down too fast. Not too much to say here. Great grind.

Looks:
When looking into any skate product, looks really shouldn't be an important issue, but since this review is rather short without it, it's nice to add it in. All personaly preference also. I like the looks of them, personally, a nice color balance and simple graphic. I'll let you judge for yourself.

Overall:
These are great trucks for any style of skating. Whether it's bombing hills or hitting up a rail, these trucks give you a great slide, feel and will last a long time.

Thunders grind good and turn good but the kingpins are way too low. If you tighten them you will hang up on 50/50 grinds. At least until you wear down the kingpins, which makes it impossible to remove nut.
