The fakie and switch rock to regular are two more basic transition tricks that you should learn. It is simply a rock to fakie, but instead, is performed in the fakie or switch stance and you come back in regular. This trick helps you regain your balance if needed after a trick where you come back in fakie, or it allows you to set up for a trick in regular stance.
The motions are the same, they are just in different stances.
Doing The Trick
Positioning:
You are going to want to have your feet in fairly neutral positions that you are comfortable with. You should be slightly towards the front of the board, however your feet are still over the bolts.
Motion:
Start by rolling up a quarter pipe in the switch or fakie stance
As you near the coping, apply pressure to your front foot so that the tail will lift up and go over the coping
Shift your weight to your back foot in order to make your rear wheels hit the deck
Begin to shift your weight onto your front foot again and start to lean forward into the ramp
You will now be sliding back into the ramp, so lift up your tail like you did when coming into this trick to avoid hanging up on the coping
After your back wheels clear the coping set them back down and roll away
Video Trick Tips:
Troubleshooting
Q. I can't get my board to sit on top of the coping, I just barely get my wheels over and then can't finish the trick A. The best way to solve this problem is to simply get more speed. It may seem scarier, but when it comes to this trick the more speed you have the easier. Also make sure that you are lifting up your back wheels on the way into the trick so that you won't be losing all of you speed if the wheels hit the coping.
Q. I can get into the trick, but when trying to finish it I hang up on the way back in A. You just need to lean forward more and commit to it. If you try to let the board do it all by itself, you will hang up and fall. Make sure you are lifting up your rear wheels on the re-entry, and just go for it.
Where Do I Go From Here?
After you get this trick down, you can start adding some style and pop into this trick. Or you can choose to learn an entirely new trick, it is up to you.
Well the thing is you can do it switch or fakie, and both of them generally use the same motion. So instead of calling it a switch/fakie rock, rock to regular just makes more sense. And yeah, I agree this wasn't one of my bests. Couldn't find a single video of one, nor could I find a sequence or image. We need some nicer photogs.
