Ollie to Fakie

By PatrickGB at 2009-09-02 02:01

Introduction

Ollie to Fakie is a pretty cool basic ramp trick which can look really good if done properly and helps with alot of other air/transition tricks.

What You Need to Know

Tricks You Should Know:

Ollie- Needed for doing the actual trick no point trying to do it on ramp if you can't do it perfect on flatground.

Other Skills:

Backside Kickturn- Just to have the feel of the ramp.

Roll up a ramp then rool down fakie- To be used to rolling down a ramp fakie.

What You May Find Useful:

Pumping and other basic transition skills will help you alot just to be comfortable on ramp, also basic street tricks will help you to control your board in the air.

Doing The Trick

Positioning:

Just how you would set up for a regular flat ground ollie.

Motion:

Okay first roll up to the ramp get the feel of rolling backwards down the ramp. While your doing the ollie you should be doing while you are still moving not at top speed but not to slow either, just around when you slow down. Before you ollie make sure you are leaning pretty far back so you don't clip on the coping but not to far back otherwise when you land you will be off balaced. Crouch down heaps it helps a lot. Remember it's just a regular ollie so drag your foot up.

While your in the air suck up your knees or bone it foward for steeze. You don't want to land higher up on the ramp nor do you want to land to far down on the ramp. You want to land in the same position maybe a little bit back.

Bend your knees again when you land and the pump when your exiting the ramp.

Troubleshooting

Landing with front trucks on coping/ Getting clipped/caught on coping.

What your doing wrong is either two things 1. You are not leaning far back enough or 2. doing it to early.

Ollies arn't going high enough.

Bend your legs more and Lean further back or just practise ollies on flatground till you can get high enough

Where Do I Go From Here?

Kickflip to fakie Pop Shuvit to Fakie Frontside 180 Air Well you should work on getting them clean and then work on nose boning them or adding add a grab.
