The frontside flip is a combination between the frontside 180 and the kickflip. This trick is one of my favorites if done in a few different ways. It really depends what tricks you are good at to determine whether or not these will be hard to learn, I was better at frontside tricks so I found these easier to learn than backside flips, but from what I've seen it's the opposite for most people.
The reason you should know those is simple, those two combined are what this trick is. If you don't know one of those two then you should not be trying this trick, work until you have those two down well then move on to this trick if you want to.
Other Skills:
If you can hardflip than it would be really helpful towards learning frontside flips. For me it was the other way around, knowing frontside flips helped me learn hardflips. Maybe also just try and flick it without trying to land it just to get used to flicking it that way.
What You May Find Useful:
Like I said above, just trying to flick it will help you learn, just don't get used to doing them that way.
Doing The Trick
Positioning:
This can vary a ton from person to person. I started off by having my back foot with my toes nearly at the top of the tail, and my front foot with my foot a little less on the board then I do for regular kickflips. That worked really well for me but my stance changed naturally to having my back foot in an area where I could scoop the tail, with less of my foot on the board, and my front foot a little more on the board than before.
I can't say which one works better, but in my experience having the foot positioning I do now gives you more control and makes it easier to do them down things, but it's different for everyone, so just keep practicing and you will get it eventually.
Motion:
After you get your stance start by bending your knees and winding up your shoulders, (winding up your shoulders is very important). Then pop, scoop with you back foot while simultaneously unwinding your shoulders to do the 180 and sliding your foot up the board getting ready to flick. Flick off a little before the nose and keep the rotation going.
When the board is done spinning try and catching it and roll away. Be sure to remember to do all these things for the best result, though some people might not find it necessary to wind up their shoulders in my opinion it helps a ton especially if you're just learning them.
Video Trick Tips:
Troubleshooting
Underrotating the full 180-
Fix this by winding up your shoulders if aren't already, if you are, keep PRACTICING, and you will eventually get it. Just keep trying to get the full 180 and if you practice enough you will get it.
Not getting the full flip-
Keep trying to get the full kickflips, and try and flick earlier than before, and focusing on it more while doing the trick. Also, remember to scoop with your backfoot, and roll your front foot while flicking.
Overrotating the kickflip-
This used to happen to me, give a nicer, softer flick to fix this. Some other ways to fix this are to flick later than before and to flick higher on the board.
Sticking-
This is really common I'd say, this is caused by either not rotation completely or landing off balance causing you to fall forward. To fix this you should actually just try to focus on landing properly.
Hardflips because they are similar to frontside flips. They should come a lot easier if you know frontside flips, that is if you don't know hardflips already.
