skateboard Switch Backside Crook |

IntroductionSwitch crooks are a fun trick, but a little awkward at first when trying them. I'm sure that you have solid regular backside crooks before thinking about trying this trick. You should or this might be frustrating. Basically you'll do the same thing you do for a regular crook, but do it switch, making it a bit more tricky. What You Need to KnowBackside Crooks. You'll need this trick for obvious reason. This is the same trick, only switch, making it a bit more difficult. You'll want to have them down solid in your regular stance before going at it switch. Other Skills: Have your other basic grinds down in regular before going for this trick. The basics will help with balance throughout this grind. Being that's it's a switch grind, you'll want to be as familiar with grinds as possible. What You May Find Useful: Try switch backside noseslides first. They are similar in that they use the nose of the board, and are close in terms of where they are executed on the obstacle. Doing The TrickPositioning: Set up you back foot like you would for an ollie, so over the tail. For your front foot, it's about the same for on ollie also, but maybe put it a little closer to the front bolts so you don't over pop onto the ledge when getting your front truck on. Motion: Roll about parallel to the obstacle, with maybe just a slight angle. Have your knees bent a little, and get ready for the pop. Pop the tail down, and quickly level your ollie so you can get your front truck on the obstacle as easily as possible. Once your front truck is on, maintain the grind until you reach the end of the obstacle. Give the board a lil' nudge, or a little fakie ollie pop out to make sure you get out of the grind as easy as possible. Land and roll away. TroubleshootingI can get my front truck on, but then I don't grind.
1. Make sure the obstacle is fairly waxed. Wax always helps.
2. Have your shoulder parallel to ledge as much as possible so your body doesn't turn during the getting into of this trick.
3. Keep your weight almost completely centered over the front truck when getting into, during, and coming out of the grind.
I get into it fine, grind, but then when I try to get out, I can't.
1. Try giving the board a little pop out to level the board out when getting out of the grind.
2. Make sure your shoulders are still parallel to the obstacle so you don't start going in a direction away from the obstacle. Your shoulders being parallel will help make sure you roll away from the obstacle parallel as well. Where Do I Go From Here?Once you've got this trick on lock, you can take it to switch kickflip crooks, switch pop shuv crook, switch crook flip out, basically anything you've tried with your regular crooks, apply it in your switch crooks.

Haha, at first I was like '_- huh? But then I think of myself doing heels and then switch heels.. Big difference in how I go about it, personally... But eh, it's all whatever I suppose. I suppose having separated switch and regular stance guides, at nothing else, will at least make it look better in terms of how much content is offered =D
You don't just learn a switch trick from nothing, you use your knowledge of your regular tricks to get it in an unfamiliar position.
personally, not to brag, but I think I have switch down fairly well. I can do pretty much and switch trick in a couple tries because of my previous statement. I can't do them consistently but I can get them all within a couple tries
And as for why some people, like myself, seem to do tricks differently in switch... I'd say is because I'm not entirely comfortable or experienced in switch overall. I would hope though that eventually I can take some switch tricks to a level of comfort just as it is when I am doing them regular.. And when that happens, I'd assume my foot work would be the exact same on them.. If that makes sense.
Really.. Like, the only real reason I might use different methods of doing a trick switch is pretty much since I sorta suck at getting clean pops with my right foot (I'm goofy).. So I gotta sorta do shit differently to compensate for that
