Alright...F/S Smith Grinds! Fun trick, and look sick when done properly. This grind is where the skater grinds with their back truck and has their front truck either to the left to right of them depending on their stance. After you've got 50-50's, and 5-0s, I strongly recommend you try these.
It's a good idea to have the 50-50, and 5-0 grinds down before going for this trick. The 50-50 teaches solid balance while grinding, and the 5-0 grind helps with board control.
Other Skills:
Board control. This grind takes some, so make sure you have a decent amount.
What You May Find Useful:
You may want to try Suski grinds. They are similar to f/s smith in that the back truck is to the side on the obstacle you're grinding.
Doing The Trick
Positioning:
Basically you ollie position. I don't really switch my feet when going or this trick, but if anything maybe have your front foot about an inch or so from the front bolts so you over pop by having your feet too close to each other.
Motion:
Once you're setup, roll to the obstacle about parallel, or just to a slight angle and get ready for the pop. Once you pop, turn slightly to the left (right if you're goofy), and get your back truck on. Once you're on, center your weight over your back truck to maintain the grind. Hold it for as long as the obstacle it is your grinding, and once you come to the end, pop out and roll away.
Video Trick Tips:
Troubleshooting
When I get on the obstacle, I stick, and fly forward.
1. You're leaning to far forward when you get your back truck on. Just level your ollie onto the obstacle, and center your weight over your back truck,
2. Obstacle isn't grindable/not waxed. Wax it more.
I get on, and gind, but then I slip out.
1. Stay above the board at all times during the grind. Make sure you're keeping your weight centered over your back truck.
Where Do I Go From Here?
Once mastered, you can do flip tricks into, and of out this grind. There are many variations to this trick you can try. Just be creative!
