Alright, first off, this is a very difficult trick to learn. Probably one of the hardest in my opinion as far as slides go. Anyways, for this trick the skater ollies over onto the obstacle with their tail on top of the obstacle and slides. Harder than it sounds.
Both the frontside 5-0, and frontside salad grind are good to learn before trying this trick for a few reasons. Both help practice good board control, and balance. Also, both grinds have the back truck involved just like for a front bluntslide.
Other Skills:
Have good board control and balance.
What You May Find Useful:
Tailslides. If you're trying this trick on a flatbar it may be useful since bluntslides (backside or frontside) are basically the same thing except you're ollieing over the flatbar and not directly on top of the flatbar like for tailslides.
Doing The Trick
Positioning:
Basically an ollie stance. Give or take a few inches between the center and front bolts of the board.
Motion:
Approach the obstacle about parallel, and bend your knees to get ready for the pop. Pop the tail, and start to turn to the right (left for goofy stance). Once you see your back truck is over the obstacle, let the tail hit the edge of the obstacle, and get ready for the slide. Once you start sliding, you want to maintain it until the end of the obstacle, and give the board a lil' nudge to get out of the slide easy as possible. Land and roll away.
Video Trick Tips:
Troubleshooting
I get on the obstacle, but stick/don't slide.
1. Make sure the obstacle is waxed. This slide requires the obstacle to be very waxed when first learning this trick.
2. Remember to have your tail as perpendicular from the obstacle as possibly so the wheels don't catch the edge of the obstacle.
I slide, but then the board shoots forward.
1. Have your weight almost completely centered over that tail so the slide is maintained, and controlled.
Where Do I Go From Here?
Variations. You can do fliptricks into, or out of this slide, you can do bigspins, 180's, all sorts of things. Be creative.
