No Comply Over Block Things

By BakerForLife at 2009-11-12 14:50

Introduction

No Comply's are a fun, old school trick. Back in the day, they were very popular. Nowadays, not so much. Anyways, the no comply is where the skater brings their front foot off the board, pops the tail down, and slides their back foot up the board to level it out while in the air. It's like an ollie with your back foot doing all the work.

What You Need to Know

Tricks You Should Know:

You should feel comfortable with the ollie because it has a similar motion to no complys. Though not necessary, I recommend it.

Other Skills:

Be quick. This trick is fast, so have fast feet, and reaction, or your board will hit you in the shins, or even worse.

Doing The Trick

Positioning:

Back foot over the tail, while your front foot in a little in front of the front bolts. You can have it over the nose too if you find it more comfortable. Either setup works fine.

Motion:

Once you're setup, bend your knees down, and start to bring your front foot off the board. Once your foot is on the ground, quickly pop the tail, and slide your back foot up the board. When board levels out in midair, quickly put your front foot back on, then land and roll away.

Troubleshooting

You go to pop the tail, but the board hits your knee, or shin.
You're not being quick enough. Be fast with this trick. Once you take your front foot off, the board is already starting to come up ready to be popped. You must quickly pop, then slide your back foot up, or the board will have no control, and it will most likely hit you.

Where Do I Go From Here?

Once you've mastered the no comply, you can move onto putting a rotation into it. 180/360 No Comply's are a fun trick as well. Both just take shifting your wieght to whatever side your doing (frontside/backside). Also, a no comply flip if you want. Though there's really no sure fire way to land these every try, you can get a feel for how the board flips through trial and error,
