"Better Skateboarding" brand wheels, 49mm and 54mm Review, Test, and Commentary
By grimcity at 2008-03-26 12:16

Recently, one of the owners of a small, independently owned skateboard wheel company sent over two sets of wheels for me to review, a set of 49's and a set of 54's. Then name of the company is "Better Skateboarding," they can be found online at http://www.betterskateboarding.com.

In the review (consisting of two parts, running close to 20 minutes in total), I test the claims that the wheels they produce are fast and flatspot resistant. I hope you find the reviews informative, but keep in mind that when talking about skateboards and the parts they're comprised of, everything's subjective... different people look for different things in their gear.

Enjoy!

Part 1: 49mm

Ricta SuperCrystals

Background

Over the past two years, I have rode one set of wheels. The Ricta Supercrystals were the wheels of choice. I don’t know where to begin when I can remember everything I have done with these wheels. You can ride them on anything, and they are really durable and trustworthy. This is the Ricta Supercrystal review.

Non Friction Urethane Wheels

Non Friction Urethane Wheels
-Blank Skate Supply & Jargon Distribution - Non Friction Urethane wheels are made by Jargon Distribution and are based on a formula for urethane that NASA uses. Now I’m not sure how related space and skateboarding urethanes are, but whatever works. These wheels definitely do that.

Flip Tri-Cut / Side Cut Wailers

Flip Sidecuts
-FlipSkateboards.com - Looks can be deceiving and Flip proves that for us all by making the beautiful Flip Tri-cut/side-cut wheels that split apart way too soon. These wheels have to be one of the best looking wheels out there, they come in nice colours, they look cool, my personal favourite were the Wailer colours so thats the wheel I picked out, 52mm too which is cool.
