Another month, another delayed Member of The Month. I swear, I’m not going for a record for most delayed content on these!!
This time, April’s MOTM, we've got the ever popular... Pain!!


So... I don't really know much about you... except that you've been nominated for, pretty much all of the previous MOTM's this year, who are you?
Garrett McColloch, I'm 19, from Saint Louis, Missouri, and I am currently attending the University of Missouri-Columbia.

So Garrett McColloch, from saint Louis, Missouri, you've been kicking around SBC a while, still here for the same reasons you were when you joined up?
Well sort of, I first joined for the trick tips, product reviews, and all that good stuff when I was a wee little tadpole, but school has been keeping me busy so I haven’t been able to skate as much I would like to. But I still love everything about skateboarding, it’s been apart of my life for the better part of a decade now.

Guess the obvious question next is, why'd you start?
Back in middle school all the kids stated picking up skateboards, and my best friend at the time was one of the best at our whole school, so I kinda picked it up from him he showed me my first video, and just got me really stoked on it.

So what else are you all about, school, skating, what else makes you tick?
Music has always been a big part of my life, I love listening to it, I play a little bit of guitar here and there, music is huge i’m a pretty big partier I gotta be honest. I like to go out and drink too much on the weekends and the ladies. I’m a flirt, big time. As gay as that sounds hahaha.

Oh god where do I start? Well there was the one time where I was "break dance fighting" with my buddy, like that movie Zoolander with Ben stiller right? so yeah I jumped up in the air and landed wrong and ended up dislocating my knee and had to get surgery on it to fix it. that was pretty terrible, I almost choked to death on my own vomit once when I passed out next to the toilet on my back once, that’s another one of the high points in my life too.

Classy classy, I guess we all know somebody who's been in that position.

Damaging your knee effect your skating much then?
Yeah, I've actually dislocated both my knees on separate occasions. the first once was my freshman year of high school and I actually hurt it skateboarding and yeah I've had to basically start all over and re-learn the majority of everything twice. it sucked big time.

How'd you damage it skating, something gnarly?
I was actually just playing a game of skate trying to learn new shit for a competition I was going to enter the next day. I don't even remember what it was it was like a fakie bigspin with a little pivot at the end, and I slipped off and I just heard my knee tear. I thought I had just pulled a muscle so I ended up limping home on it from down the street hahaha. That one didn't need surgery though thank god

What's your discipline then, street skater I assume?
yeah for the most part, I really like going to the skate parks though, I hate being harassed by the pigs

Any good parks in Saint Louis then? Got any favourite spots?
Yeah there is this park over off of elm street that I go to a lot of summer, so many rippers own that park that's half the fun of going there. just to see all the dudes who rip it do what they do. And there are a few schools and stores that have some pretty good spots not far from my house either, so I have a pretty good selection on what I want to skate whenever.

Favourite ever place to skate then?
I've been to the skate park of Tampa when I went down there for vacation and that place was sooooo awesome I would love to go again and there used to be this massive indoor park not too far from home that was my favourite, that place literally had everything, but they closed that place down a long time ago.

What're you studying then...
I'm a business major right now, but I’m not really sure if that's gonna work out. I have no idea what I want to do with my life when I grow up!

I wouldn't have minded doing something like business, not sure what it'd be like learning it all in a classroom though. So tell me, what's the one thing you've learnt from your course? Anything you think everybody should know about business?
well I think the thing that everyone should know about going to college period is to stay caught up in your classes, actually go to class and just do the work because if you fall behind in a class it’s really hard to catch up and bring your grades up, i've had to figure that one out the hard way.

ha-ha oh yeah, I mean it’s crucial if you want to do well. I slacked off big time my senior year of high school, literally did next to nothing and got by just fine. but going to school and actually having to buckle down and do your work and study was pretty hard for me to do

Too busy choking on your own vomit eh? :p Guess you do get more time with the ladies if you spend more of your time socialising though eh...*wink wink* Etc...

Oh for sure, I love the ladies! But it’s been difficult though, cause being away at school you can’t be with all the ladies from back home, I tried it and it did not last over a month but then on the other hand if you start to get too serious with girls at school, once summer rolls around and everyone goes home your stuck in that same situation girls cause problems folks, don’t get too wrapped up in relationships in high school and all that, just have fun, because 99% of high school relationships end up ugly i’ve seen it a million times.

So where're you staying right now, you're not at home, are you in a shared house or something?
I’m actually living off campus in an apartment with two other random dudes I got matched up with at the beginning of the year. they are both cool dudes so there isn’t any room mate drama or anything like that.

Yeah, I have one on my left shoulder I got for my mom, she had breast cancer a few years back so I got a breast cancer ribbon with her initials under it she beat it though and now she is all good and all that good stuff but once I save up the money I plan on getting more, they are not cheap at all.

Glad to hear she's ok, death and decay has been an all too common theme in the MOTM's. Guess there's a lot of it around...
Do I spy a Mohawk?
Hahah yes that is a glorious Mohawk I used to have long hippie hair, like down to my shoulders, I cut it short, then got sick of the shorter hair, so I got the Mohawk right before one of the summer concerts last year

So... DRINKS?
Jagermesiter straight up is always a crowd pleaser… gin and lemonade… and rum and cokes.
Dut as far as beer goes, miller high life, bud light, and a corona with lime and a little bit of salt is PERFECT in the summer time

With the exception of corona, those beers are useless. Stupid American's...

But I live not too far from the Anhesuer Busch brewery, so it’s kinda in my genes haha. Yeah I mean I just drink whatever is at the store, god damn drinking age of 21.

21 really is crazy, you can drive, you can get married, and you can die for your country, but not have a beer. Honestly, its just crazy.

Favourite cars?
Hmm let me think. I would love to drive a souped up Jetta, even though they are kinda chick cars, I like em.
The old school Cadillac’s, the big fucking boats, I would kill to have that white Cadillac that he drives in fear and loathing in Las Vegas.
And Chevy Impalas, from any year, especially the old ones.

Caddy's are the one out of your list I’d never choose, God no. I went through a huge Impala phase, so I know how sweet they can look, and Jetta's... well, who could hate a Jetta?
Final top 3 I think... going to throw a slightly less usual one in for a change...
Top 3 Sauces?
I can put ranch on anything. There is this one kind of barbecue sauce called sweet baby rays, and they have all kinds of delicious flavours of that and there is this really good Mexican hot sauce that my friend's mom always has but I can remember the name of it that shit is really good having foreign friends pays off in the food department hahaha.

For sure, I love foreign foods, Portuguese chicken is one of my favourites, there's a chain in Europe (might be in the USA too?) called Nando's, AWESOME stuff, UK massive can back me up on this!
Yeah i've never heard of Nando's. but my good friend's mom is from Honduras and his dad is Italian, so they always make really good food, they got me to try cow tongue, and it was actually really good to be honest.

Never had tongue... my girlfriend's a Hindu so I’m not sure how she'd feel about me having cow tongue... what with it being a sacred animal and all that. Tried ostrich? Now them's good eatin...

Haha, yeah that might not go over too well with her. Never had ostrich, i’ve had some gator before though, its like already spicy chicken, really good.

So, anything you feel needs to be said to the smiley happy people on SBC?
Go out and skate! Have fun, and don't take it too seriously. Have good times with your homies, kick back some brews, and just have fun.
Cause that’s what its all about. Get in trouble, you only live once so make it fun.
