Hey guys, well, what we have here is a lot like the What are you listening to? thread, only different. In here, it's more about what I am listening to, and not really you. It's mainly just me sharing what music I'm into at any given moment I see fit. This is kind of a side-kick to Music Mondays because I've noticed a lot of the stuff I wanted to post on there got lost in the bottom of the playlist and forgotten about. This way, I can share all those lost gems.
Discussion encouraged, contributions encouraged but only if they fit the bill. Maybe this will bring some more attention to Music Monday, who knows? Anyway, what do I listen to? A lot. Most of it is off the main stream with a lot of indie and electronic but not limited to anything really. I like music. That's about it. So, lets get right to it. Maximum Balloon is the solo side-project of Dave Sitek, more commonly known for his part in TV on the Radio. He's been around for a bit, releasing singles since the summer and dropped his debut self-titled album last month. He's got all sorts of guest vocalists for the album, Karen O (the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Theophilus London, and David Byrne(the Talking Heads)....just to name a few. He's even got his TV on the Radio guys join him on a couple tracks. The album as a whole sounds pretty similar to a TV on the Radio release, but with a more dancey, laid back tune. It's pretty solid. Nothing amazing, but still pretty damn good to hear. Here's some good ones. YouTube - Maximum Balloon - Groove Me ft. Theophilus London YouTube - Maximum Balloon - Abscence of light (feat. Tunde Adebimpe) YouTube - Maximum Balloon feat. Aku - Tiger with Lyrics Pretty awesome release, I'd suggest you check it out. And, with that, the commencement ceremony has adjourned. |

![]() YouTube - Dirty Gold - California Sunrise I've been feeling rather nostalgic for summer lately, and this song hits that spot just right. Smooth, easy flowing song. Makes me wish I was riding in my car with the windows down cruisin down to the beach, the scent of the salt water piling in the windows, with this song playin on the radio. Give it a listen. Not a whole lot of love yet...hopefully that'll change. I'll keep posting anyway.
![]() Two Door Cinema Club. I'm sure some of you have heard of them. They remind me a lot of Phoenix and have a very similar sound. Upbeat songs, good vocals, good tunes. Fun songs. They've gotten pretty popular recently. They also released a deluxe edition of Tourist History with two previously unreleased tracks. You can listen to both of them below. Two Door Cinema Club is playing here later this month. My friends are saying that I should bring a guitar and stand in the back because I look like the guitarist.

So much new shit out there right now, I gotta filter through it all and see what I'm diggin' and what I'm not. I'll probably have a lot of goodies over the next couple of days, and hopefully some bangers by the time Thursday and Friday roll around.
![]() For this very moment, divulge in some Jeuce. Thsi trio out of England is pretty hot over in the UK right now and they're working on a full release Get Hype. They recently put out a new single, "Kiss", and a couple remixes available on their website for free if you sign up to become a member on their site. It's super easy. These guys are known for mixing up all sorts of genres in their music. Expect some heavy electro stuff here with a little dub mixed in. Here's the single and my personal favorite remix: YouTube - Jeuce - Kiss [Get Hype] YouTube - Jeuce - Kiss (Zeds Dead Remix) [Get Hype] And here's an earlier release from the end of the summer. ![]() Ghostland Observatory. Heard of them? No? It's time you did. Their fourth release Codename: Rondo dropped just before Halloween, and it's good. Real damn good. The whole album is good, but there are some standouts for sure. If you don't get down with these guys, it's about time you started. Turn the lights out and get some dirty grinding dancing to some solid electro beats here. Oh, and, these guys are fucking AMAZING live. If you ever get the chance to go...go. It's unreal. Downright dirty electro beats with amazing vocals and unreal laser light shows...need some more motivation? How about them busting out this sleeper of a song off of Rondo to end one of their live sets. YouTube - Ghostland Observatory - Kick, Clap, Speaker live @ House of Blues Chicago 9.8.10 Plus check out my other favorite song from the album, Glitter, also live. YouTube - NEW GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY | GLITTER Pick up the CD or check it online somewhere to listen to them in better quality. Good songs. Amazing live. And as a bonus here's one of my all time favorites, the ever popular "Sad Sad City" YouTube - Ghostland Observatory - Sad Sad City (CD VERSION) Last edited by Let Fire Fall; 12-12-2010 at 11:36 PM.. |

![]() I don't know how many of you have heard of Tron: Legacy, and for those of you who haven't...it's the sequel to 1982's Tron and it's set to be released by Walt Disney Pictures n December 17th. It's supposed to be up there with Avatar in terms of visual effects and everything. It looks pretty sick. And, on top of that, the entire film score was composed by none other than...Daft Punk. For that reason alone I'll see this movie. Here's a little music video made for the song with a trailer for the movie. YouTube - Daft Punk - Derezzed: Tron Legacy Music Video Then if you go here and click on the play sign to the right of the song title, you can listen to the full four minute version of the same song. You should do that. The Tron: Legacy soundtrack is set to release on December 7, 2010. |

Happy Tuesday. The sun's out today and the air warmed up to a brisk 60 degrees today. Life's not too bad. I decided to mellow it out some for this one with some bare to the bones indie rock.
![]() I don't know much about California Wives except they're out of Chicago and they've got a cool, mellow sound. I first heard "Blood Red Youth" a couple weeks ago and it immediately became a song that helps me cope with my winter-time blues and longing for the carefree summer lifestyle. They just released their first EP, Affairs last week and it's a pretty good album. YouTube - California Wives - Blood Red Youth To promote the album, they're offering a free download of "Blood Red Youth", available here. Check out the song and check out Affairs |

I think I've still got a few of my summer playlists from this past summer. Maybe I'll check out some of those for some more good summer tunes. They'll be stale by the time summer rolls around for me. |

![]() For any of you guys who haven't heard of Ellie Goulding yet, you're about to now. Ready? Be polite. ![]() Alright, now that we've got that taken care of...Goulding is an English singer/songwriter and has hit it pretty big after released her first album Lights. She's got a pretty damn good voice and her songs aren't too bad either. Lights is a pretty good on its own, and on top of that there's countless remixes out of her songs in just about every style you could want (lots of dub). Anyway, she's got a re-release of her album coming out later on this month, titled Bright Lights. This first song is one of the six new songs that will be on the deluxe edition. It's one of my favorite of hers. YouTube - Ellie Goulding - Lights And, as a little bonus, I'm gonna include one of the standouts from the original release as well as a banger of a remix of "Salt Skin" from Alex Metric. This remix is a little old and was featured on a Music Monday, but the build up and break down in this song is unreal. Play it loud for full enjoyment. YouTube - .: Ellie Goulding 'Starry Eyed' :. What up guys, welcome to a rather funky Friday. It's warm out right now, but it'll be getting a little chilly later. I'm about to head off to get some good ol' Chik-fil-A to fill up before we head over to the Mexican place to down some fishbowl margaritas and long islands. Here's to hoping it gets weird later tonight.
Anyway, here's some quick picks to get your Friday pumpin. YouTube - Dada Life - Unleash The Fucking Dada (at dawn we rage unleash the fucking fury edit) YouTube - Tim Berg - Alcoholic (Dada Life Remix) YouTube - Urban DropOutz -BangHer YouTube - Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner vs Ram Jam - Black Betty Has Animal Rights (G.reg Bootleg) see ya on da flip side |
