i'm probably wrong but...
i thought with a gazelle you had to spin 360 while the bard spins 540 in this clips you only seem to spin 180 |

you're right but it's different if you do them on pyramid corners. this is one of those.....even if it's a tiny one haha. I only did it on this corner because I couldn't film from that angle on the other pyramid corners because there were too many people skating/riding bmx there.

It doesn't flip. That's a "gazelle flip".
but yeah, call me stupid, but it looks like more of a bigspin than gazelle Really? I've always thought bs was way easier than fs. I thought everybody was like that |

All the YT videos i've seen have them flipping. Why would it be called a flip if it doesn't flip?

Hey, I hadn't even heard about gazelles until this year. I just picked back up skateboarding a little after a 5 year break. When I started, there wasn't such a thing.
Ahh...I misread the title, I wasn't paying attention. My bad. Last edited by Floydian; 2 Weeks Ago at 03:50 PM.. |

Would like it more on a sharper hip, but still spun and collected it really good.
Yeah, gazellespins really aren't a trick you hear of that much. Funnily enough they are one of the older tricks, been around since way before kickflips. It was more of a freestyle thing. |

More or less. As far as I remember (which could be wrong because I read this many years ago), a "gazelle" was like a nollie 360 with no real pop, then a shove it was added in the mix and it was called a "gazellespin" or "gazelle shove it" because of the extra spin in it.
It means that gazelles are naturally nollie (or fakie). Then Mullen was doing them with underflips in them (like an upward heelflip), and that got misquoted from "Gazellespin underflip" to "Gazelleflip" over time, even though it has no kickflip. "Gazellespin" was eventually shortened to "gazelle" because nobody really knew "gazelle" was a different trick. Everyone probably just called them "nollie 360's" by that point anyway. Sometimes the old names still get used but w/e. Sorry to hijack your thread Heelgic! Quote:
