and woke up to late to shoot, I do this.
![]() ![]() and the last one is just from a morning bike ride not too long ago. This isnt really a photo focused thread though, more of a plug for discussion and random conversation I guess. Check the photos though. to add to this, I need yet again more help on my camera decision. You probably dont even care and think its annoying but this is probably the last time. Just share what it was like when you first got an MF camera and if you think you were ready for it and what you wouldve changed if you couldve. Just because I value others opinions way too much than my own kind of. and share anything else you want. I would but I have to eat. Last edited by Captain America; 2 Weeks Ago at 05:17 PM.. |

yeah i recall the whole you being ready for MF.
I mean its your choice really of course. but at this point for you i think youre *ready* whatever the hell that means anyway. As ready as you will be i guess. I dont shoot MF at all really. I have a Rolleiflex TLR 2.8c but im too lazy to shoot with it and i do alright with my d40. am i *ready* for a d200? I dunno what that means really Could i use one? Probably Is it necessary for me at my skill level and what i shoot? Hell no. honestly i dont think one has to be ready for a certain camera after a certain point. Its more like you know the basics. Take your own path from there. So go head shoot MF. I know im not a great photographer and i should be the last person you should listen to but whatever haha |

Thanks man, It was a shot that i was looking forward to developing. I guess Im not going to go ahead at sell that XA2. The rangefinder is probably something Ill flip for profit. Its not my kind of camera so far and its so damn confusing and in no way replaces the XA2. Get yourself an XA2 or XA if you find a good deal. It really is a good investment.
and Fuck that shake, I would easily be willing to listen to anyone. You have insight on the situation I guess, and when you first came here your work didnt really show that you didnt know much about photography at all. They were the shit. You seem to have alot more knowledge of photography than I did when I started so value your opinion, and anyone elses. You're right though, and I guess that's just reassurance for what I though. I want to do it pretty much, but i just wont let myself for fear of what others think about me getting it. Which is stupid. i just need to quit asking and act. All these questions and stuff just make me look like a jackass. I've been shooting more than it looks. The film from the summer is going to be sent off/developed this week and ill get it back the next, and I shot one of my XC races with the XA2 and have other stuff that I just didnt post. Any advice on trying to break up with someone though? Thats the real problem I have, not anything to do with a camera (although I think I have decided on a one I want) Last edited by Captain America; 2 Weeks Ago at 05:27 PM.. |

thanks man. Depends on the situation really. (How long you guys were going out, if she has friends you want, if theres already a girl you want, your current relationship status with current girl, i.e- fighting a lot, distant etc) |

no problem
She pretty much knows, and just sent me a text asking me if I wanted to break up, and I should answer yes, but its not like I want to be a douche and do it over a text message. It doesnt matter too much though. Lets talk about other stuff though, because this would be lame if it completely revolved around a dumb break up. talk photos or whateva nigga. She never stopped asking me, and she knew what was up so I figured there was no use in make her wait in worry, so I told her.
Dude, get an XA. People favor the XA over the XA2 because it has aperture selection and rangefinder focusing, but I really enjoy my XA2. It might be my favorite camera Ive bought. Next to my ae-1. |

Fuck yeah, I love my ae-1, too, haha.
I'm really lonely in terms of people I can share things with, I need a girlfriend. I'm still like madly in love with my ex (broke up in like April..), and I'd do anything to be with her again, but she's not feeling it and I'm not going to be the annoying ex boyfriend anymore. Although I have yet to find an attractive girl that I genuinely like.. |

Please stop worrying yourself over this, it won't "change" your life. You'll have something new to talk about and shoot with, other than that it won't change your god damn perspective. It's an investment for your teenage years as you are more than likely to give this up when you need some extra cash. Just buy something and try it out before you don't have the oppourtunity. Impulse, impulse, impulse.

medium format was way expensive so I never did it. Well my high school had a bunch of medium format (and large) and I used all of em and they were boring. I dunno. It's hard to move and have a dynamic fluid way of photographing when you have something so big - even MF rangefinders were too much. Just not comfortable. my fed, my k1000 - fit in my hand like they were made for it.
(plus I can use close to every square cm of paper when printing 35mm negatives - with MF you always got that top and bottom white wasted space. But that shouldn't change your decision haha. I just never had my own photo paper so I had to use other people's - so I always had to use the most of em.) |

yea dude just chill about it, i started photography like 2 months earlier than you but i bought a bronica in April, never looked back. I use it just as much as any other person. Its fun, its a tool, and the gods arent going to smite you for getting a MF camera even if you arent ready. You will get ready. As long as you know exposure the change really isnt dramatic. I went from meterless 35mm to meterless MF no big deal.

I feel bad. All these guys have been taking pictures for like a few months, and own all these different cameras, and all I use is my D60.

I dont even know if you're referring to me, but I guess Ill just explain any way.
Ive been shooting for like 11 months maybe? I just remember starting in November around thanksgiving. I have 4 cameras. 2 I got for 50 dollars or under, and the other 2 I got in a package for like 175 dollars. I only mention the amount of time shooting, to show that they were acquired over time, for a good price. They're all film and cheap, so Its easy to buy them and get around other cameras when the sell so easily and they're easy to sell. If was in digital, I doubt I would have 2 bodies, or alot of any camera things. Im not into have alot of expensive things. I didnt even plan on buying 2 of the cameras. One came with the other, along with 3 lenses, so I took, and the other I plan to sell for profit soon probably. I guess what Im saying is, most of us are in the more versatile buying field of 35mm cameras. Last edited by Captain America; 2 Weeks Ago at 08:18 PM.. |

I bough alot of expired film, which I bought in the summer, and have yet to freeze it (which I will do tonight.) and have bulk black and white. Any other time I buy Kodak Gold from wal-mart or Fuji 200 which is like 2 dollars, and my mom covers that with the groceries. If you work at it, it can be cheap.
I totally understand though. I dont have a job, and cant get one until I get my license, so all the camera gear I plan to buy, or have bought, is coming from gift money or selling thing. I think digital suits you better though. Everything you do with it seems to work out great, and it seems to me like it fits you shooting style. I really have no idea at all though, it just seems like your kind of thing. |

Probably the same as how I could see myself shooting the way I do with digital. My shots would probably decrease in quality, at least for a while, because it would feel too disposable to me. I could get used to it though.
Ive only shot digital, like one time at a Minor League baseball game. oh yeah, and thanks Sobrien. I think I remember when i shot this now. I tried to do it quick, because their dog was barking at me. I might shoot around that area this weekend. |

I currently own 5 cameras, haha.
But the next camera I want is a rangefinder. I'm so in love with the Voigtlander Bessa range. plus a 35mm 1.4, and I'm set for life. They're not even that expensive, I can get a Bessa R2A for like 300-400 pounds. Maybe in alike a year or two I'll get one. |

shooting film isn't really all that expensive, i mean i don't know about yall but it takes me a few months to get through four or five rolls (a pack usually contains five rolls and is around ten bucks), then getting just the negatives developed is about two a roll and then you can scan in it in. besides, i feel way more connected to my photos when they're shot on film, i have no idea why but digital just doesn't give me that feeling. and every time i come back from cvs with my negatives it's almost like opening a present =/
and you should totally switch to mf, i haven't yet cause i can't afford another camera at the moment but as soon as i have enough money i'm totally getting a bronny i really like number one !! |
