Default Help with some guitar tabs please.

Alright, so i'm looking at some tabs for a pretty simple song that are as follows:

    e|----------------------------------------|
    B|-9--9----10--10----12--12----12--12-----|
    G|-x--x-----x---x-----x---x-----x---x-----|
    D|-8--8-----9---9----11--11----11--11-----|
    A|-9--9----10--10----12--12----12--12-----|
    E|----------------------------------------|

Very easy, except I have one problem. Those "X"s on the G string represent a muted note right? How am I supposed to strum and mute that particular string at the same time? Please correct me if i'm wrong about the X representing a muted note also.

You lightly put your finger over the x note so that when you strum it, it will be muted.

Or, you could put your first finger on the 8th fret and your 2 other fingers on the 2 9th frets and lightly go over that string with a finger.

thanks guys, but there's one more thing I need help with

    I've run into this:

    5h7p5

I know I have to hit the 5 then hammer on the 7, but then how am I suposed to pull off of the 5 without striking a tune from the 7 too?

Snake, yeah I realized it was the same thing after I read the first post again, but I had to go to school so I couldn't change it. 5h7p5 is like

you pick the 5th fret and keep the finger on the 5th fret and hammeron and while your finger is on the 7th fret, you pull it off, thus making the 5th fret sound. You don't pick the 7th fret if that was what you were thinkin

No I wasnt thinking about picking the 7th.

Pull which off though? If I tried to do a pull-off on the 5th fret then the finger holding the 7th would mute off any sound. Do I hammer the 7, then pull off the 7?

Yeah, you pull off the 7 and since your 5th fret finger is still there, the 5th fret would sound
