In my last company the execs loved the Surface. I currently use a Lenovo ThinkPad that’s very light and folds into tablet, essentially. Might be on the pricey side though (it’s my company’s machine).
As title says, my macbook pro is 7 years old. To be honest it's still fine, the performance is still adequate for my needs. Just the battery life sucks and it's quite heavy, over 2kg so I'm reluctant to take it anywhere. As carry-on luggage that's 2kg of my 7kg allowance gone...
I'm looking for a tablet to replace it. Been looking at Surface Pros. Some aren't too badly priced, but definitely want to keep the price reasonable
Not really sold on iPads.
I've been impressed with the sheer durability of my beloved Macbook so would appreciate something that's a bit hardy
What y'all recommend?

I've heard good things about the Surfaces as well
The surface is tight as fuck in my opinion, they gave me one at a previous job. Works as a tablet, works as a laptop. If it's in your price range that's definitely not a bad option.
What airlines actually weigh carry-on?
was expecting a cccp thread

If the weight and the battery are the only problems, you should think about getting a newer version of it. Maybe the 2018 or 2019 version. I don't think you'll find a better laptop, from another manufacturer as good as the MacBook from Apple.
You should get the 2019 MacBook. I bought mine 4 months ago. It is my first PC from Apple. I'll be honest here. I met a lot of Apple guys before, when I was a Windows user, which were talking about that Windows is crap and some other crap, which was humiliating Windows PCs. This was the main reason why I didn't buy an Apple device before - because of that Apple hype. So after finally doing that move, and using the MacBook for a while, I understand them. I won't judge Windows, but I agree that macOS is better - way better. The only problem that I had till now was how to disable mouse acceleration. Why? Because it's so damn fast.
