plenty of companies will have started out just making softgoods before they made hardgoods. how popular theyve become to the none skate demographic is kinda whack but at the same time they can literally release anything, itll sell and that money will hopefully go towards supporting the people on the team. same with palace they just started out as a homie brand, fashion world picked up on it and now if you skate and want to get softgoods from em that may be a struggle but all the hypebeast fucks spending £££ on overpriced jackets supports lev and the rest of the team.
