I recall you saying you had a crossfit class or something and you were trying to juggle a few programs at the time. I could be wrong but I doubt it.
One program, accessories, rest, food/protein. All you need.

Ok good, now all you need to do is try sticking with it for 3 months.

It was wrestling season, not crossfit. I was trying to do wrestling, starting strength, and plyos at the same time. I dropped the plyos and just did wrestling and starting strength. After wrestling was done, I resumed the plyos.

Oh yeah, and you were barely eating on top of that. Jeesus.
Anyways, just stick to that program that you're doing now for like 3 months and tell us how it goes.

Minimum of three months. He can probably push that for a year or two. And if he likes it switch to nsuns CAP program which is the next step once the normal 531 slows. But honestly he could probably run 531 for two years. Nsuns has like a 400+ front squat and 600+ deadlift and made CAP to work on upping then. Cccp is far away from that

I couldn't complete the Tuesday workout. I took an hour doing the T1 lift. Legs were dead. Never had a leg workout that made me work so hard. Couldn't do snatches after like I planned. Is it true that working out for much more than an hour is bad for you?

Edit: I should have rested a bit less. It really felt like I needed it though.

No. Plenty of people workout for far longer. Rest more or lower your training max. An hour for T1 is way too long

I did take a long ass time for the T1 lifts for squat. Probably because this is my first time squatting in a while.

My workout buddy said that working out for more than an hour is useless and a waste of time. I would have completed it otherwise.

cccp, seriously, the point in working out is doing it although it hurts. You're doing something wrong if it doesn't hurt. Don't like saying it but #nopainnogain

Edit: What your workout buddy is probably trying to say is that one hour of actually working out as in a hard workout is better than 3 hours of sipping protein shakes, talking to your workout buddy and doing one exercise.

I got 3 reps on the 1+ amrap set. So according to that I should up my TM by 5-10lbs. Next time I'll try to take shorter breaks.

Ehhhh unless you're doing two a days and counting the total time a day going over two hours probably just means you're fucking around. There is a diminishing return after a point.

Really depends on what muscle groups you train and whether there's a cardio part in it or not. I mean, I used to do 2 hours of aerobic endurance + 1,5-2 hours of strength training.

It's not necessarily during a given time period, buuuuutttt. Given you're a natural lifter, doing lets say a program that has 3 days a week, 1 exercise per muscle group at 3 sets of 8-12 should exceed your ability to recover for the next workout day. And with my experience, I've done that exact program and it adds up to about 1 hour at the gym per workout day. So your friend is sort of right, but it definitely depends on the split you're doing. I used to be a on a far more intensive split that took nearly 2 hours at the gym and I simply wasn't recovering by my next workout day. I was constantly sore for months at a time. If I was doing a less volume-intensive program that covers more muscle groups per workout, I would definitely be at the gym for well over an hour and I would be recovering just fine.

What my friend said about working out for more than an hour is that your body just adapts to it and the stuff you do after an hour is pretty much useless. I did 4*8 Lat Rows and 4*8 Lat Pulldowns after the squats though.

Let your friend know that's just broscience, and follow the damn program.

This is ridiculous. You absolutely can lift for more than an hour. You absolutely can do multiple exercises per one body part multiple times a week and recover just fine. Natural. All of this can be done natural if you eat right and recover properly. I can't even believe I'm having to say that you can do this.
