    Default Street vs Park

Haven't seen another thread like this so why not.

Question: How often do you guys skate street spots vs. skateparks ? Which one do you prefer ?

I tend to rarely skate street anymore because i feel i progress way faster when im at a skatepark. I rather get my tricks down at a park first it seems to work better for me.

I like street the best, it's a rarity if I ever go to parks. Everything I've learned (accept halfpipe) was learned in the streets. I skate street all the time, ledges, stairs, and gaps are my thing since I'm terrified of rails due to a bad experience with them when I was younger. I can boardslide a bench and a ledge like it's nothing but I can't boardslide a rail for example.

I can only 50/50 a rail and thats rare for me. I'd rather huck myself down El Toro than skate a 1 foot high flat bar and boardslide the very tip of it. But I think you get the point, either way though street is all I'm about, I feel like if I was to film something in a park it could even be a FS 360 triple hardflip down a 4 block (I suck and can't even tre) I wouldn't consider it as a real make since it's not in the streets. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I don't think anything on film or not counts unless it's in the streets.

I love street skating. Skateparks make me feel all claustrophobic. You're trapped in one small area. That and hitting the same obstacles over and over and over again gets really boring. I don't like perfect obstacles. It takes the fun and challenge of making things happen. I love being in the streets. The streets are always changing. There's not one set space to skate. I love the freedom to truly do whatever I want to do. I can go bomb a hill, go skate some curbs and parking blocks, hit this spot or that spot, go skate a parking garage, take a cruise and hit random things in the streets and sidewalks, go rack my brain skating freestyle in a parking lot or even do more than one of those things in one session.

That right there is the most beautiful explanation of street skating I have ever read!

I skate park almost exclusively, I typically only skate once a week, for 6-7 hours, so why would I wanna waste my time hunting for spots anymore, only to be booted out of them most of the time.

Parks offer a wide variety of things to ride, plus bowls/halfpipes are always fun to skate

I usually hit up parks before work/after uni, we have a lot of different ones in my city so they offer variety. I skate some popular street spots on weekends and at night if I have time.

I like parks. Not very many street spots here. Maybe I just don't know where to look.

There are parks with like 2 foot ramps. Just go to those. You could also grind ledges and rails at some skateparks if you please.

I think parks are pretty essential for skaters that want to be well-rounded.

What I hate is when a city uses a poorly constructed park as "See, there's now some place for skaters to go skating. So get off the streets or you'll be busted!"

I'm looking at you, upper Montgomery County, Maryland!
