how come i suck trying to jump my grinding pole, its less than a foot tall, and i cant get over it!!

Either you cant ollie high enough or your timing is waaay off

If your back truck is clipping what you want to ollie over, this is because your back foot is not coming up high enough. And a way to practice this is as soon as you pop, bring your back foot the same height as your front foot and you should level out perfectly.

Pop harder and jump higher dog.

If you can't clear it, you're not getting height.

That or your timing may horribly off because you're not committing

hey i got my skateboard yesterday and i can carve, kickturn, do a few tic tacs and manual for like half a second. When i try to ollie, i can't seem to pop. help?

lean forward, towards your frontmost arm
goofy = right
regular = left.

i think one of the biggest misleading's about learning the Ollie is when people tell you to "drag" your foot up.....you DO drag your foot up but it happens naturally as the board is popped....
