I read through it. Good guide, except that I would mention that B/S and F/S are reversed from Regular/Normal in Nollie. I wish more skaters would realize that from when they started skateboarding, 'cause I'm tired of having to explain the whole idea to people. Other than that, very helpful guide.

I still don't agree to people with size 14 feet to use such a large board, I'm killing myself to get used to a 8.0 I have.

I'm a size 10 and I ride 7.5. When I bought my board I was told by a sponsored skater that 7.5 is the best to learn on and the board I originally wanted was too small for me. After reading this I do feel I might benefit from a bigger deck but does the size of a deck really make that much difference when learning to skate?

But with bigger decks theres more room for error and its all around more comfortable when you get used to them

I see, thanks for the information. One thing I will say is that your list is only really suitable for the US since shipping internation to UK costs $50 which is the same price as the deck (pointless).

I wonder if anyone has any decent internet shops that are based in the UK to drop the shipping cost since so far i've only found rubbish shops that don't even have a quarter of the known brands and the brands they happen to have are all pretty horrid with not much choice or variety.

Default MiloMywhy's Beginner Guide to Skateboarding[Fixed]

There is lots of new skaters coming on here and asking simple questions, so I thought that I would just type one mega thread out for the beginners. What is skateboarding? Wikipedia defines skateboarding as: the act of riding and performing tricks using a skateboard.

Im a size 10-11 depending on what shoe i wear =, is a size 8 board suitable?
Im a beginner and my setup is:
    Deathwish deathspray deck 8
    destructo d1 mid trucks
    bones 100a 54mm wheels
    bones reds bearings
    destructo riser pads
    jessup griptape
Is this a good setup? and as above suitable to my shoe size? Ill also be wearing my adidas hightops size 11. Also i have a new pair of supra skytops II which i will eventually use for skating but will the fact they are slightly too long(bit of space at the front of the shoe) affect skateboarding. Although my setup is not for beginners i am positive that it wont be a waste of money as i am determined to skate(dunno why i didnt start when i was younger).
One more question when I ollie do i have to stamp on the tail of the board and jump at the same time? if i do, do i have to use both feet to jump or just jump off my back foot?
    Thanks to anyone who anwsers.

oh and the person who wants to know any good sites in the uk to order skate stuff of, try Routeone.co.uk although i havent bought anything of it myself i do know that it is a popular and legit site. On the other hand i bought my board and a pair of supra skytops IIs from CCS.com for about 200 dollars or something which came to about 100 and odd pounds which was cheap for a board with good qulity trucks, bearings, wheels ect. oh and i was charged an extra 40 pounds when it arrived at my house but it was still cheaper then most UK sites. i think UK sites are more expensive, the reason maybe because skating and certain brands arnt as popular in the uk and so ot much shops sell them. hope this help.

Can someone recommend a complete skateboard for me:

    - For street skating
    - 60 kg weight
    - 1.70 length
    - I'm a beginner.
    - Foot number is 45(measure of Turkey - about 27 cm -)
    Thanks

And is there a significant difference between ABEC 3 and ABEC 5
