those lanes are terrifying. i came across them in the cotswalds, seriously, three people abreast could fill up those lanes, let alone two cars

It's pretty much a useless skill here.
I nailed the exam, it was completely retarded.
Back in the day you used to actually go on the road and drive normally. 9 months after the strike, all you have to do now is reverse a corner (which is just plastic barriers), parallel park (plastic barriers) and do a 3-point U-turn (or whatever it's called, again with barriers).
Literally, they stopped doing exams for 9 months just to do this. The found this abandoned parking lot and did the exam there. This country is retarded.
I did the first shit and then we had to drive to a place barely a block away, U-turn and go back to the parking lot.
No wonder Greece is full of autistic drivers.

Also worth noting that I arrived there at like 12;30 and we finished at barely 6.
    Headache.
Now I have to wait 1-2+ months till they bring the actual license. DOT workers are absolutely lazy retarded corrupt people.

I love them - when you grow up booting it through lanes you're definitely a better driver than those who have never had to worry about the width of their car.
I finding driving in England so boring... Driving in America was also boring, i'd go as far as to say it was totally stress fess actually.

There's one particular lane over here that my family has always referred to as "the fast lane" ... Where if you try hard enough you can get past 60mph even in my little shitbox Fiat.
I obviously never really do... because what's the point, but even at 35mph (speed limit over here) it's still more fun than 80mph on the motorway in the UK.

I will forever be impressed by how easy it is for people to drive on euro roads - especially through the old one lane arches that have zero visibility and only one side has the right of way. Not that it's difficult of course but compared to how awful drivers are here (Idaho is #1 for terrible drivers and they spend every weekend in Oregon) it was very pleasing

Puckered my booty hole occasionally and I can't imagine the chaos roads like that would bring over here

we have forest service roads to have fun on though and ya can't beat that

Don't know about the rest of the European countries, but Greek drivers are fucking retarded to the bone. Mainly due to how fucking corrupt the whole system is, but yeah.

If I have to drive to get where I need to be every day, I'd prefer my driving to be more boring than wondering "oh am I going to die in a head-on crash today?" If driving is a once-in-a-while fun little pastime then sure let's zoom around little alleyways.

I've always thought of Greece as a country that's falling apart through its own faults and a lot of the stuff you post seems to confirm that viewpoint.

More than accurate. Most people don't know half the signs. I slow down even when I have the right of way, cuz people just looove running stop signs, especially if it's a blind one.
Some retard crashed into my mom once because he didn't stop on the stop sign and apparently didn't hear her honking either (this was on a back road with no traffic).

Greece is fucking autistic. EVERYTHING is fucked and corrupt. And it's going backwards in terms of progression. I wanna move somewhere else as fast as possible.

Yeah, lovely place to live... I helped the island design and fund raise for a new concrete skatepark about 5 years ago which was the one thing it was lacking. We've got an AMAZING local music scene, our own beers, vodka, gin, hill climb sprints, if you can be bothered to get off your arse it's a great place to live.
This said... My tiny 2 bedroom flat (or apartment if you prefer) was 350k to buy... Roughly $430k in Freedom Bucks... So yeah, it's a damn pricey place to live.
Could literally buy a 5 bedroom house in parts of the States for similar money.

My commute is about 6 miles each way, and i do it on a 2016 Specialised Diverge A1.
I'm lucky enough to have showers at work so i ride in and shower first thing in the morning... It's literally the only exercise i get these days.
But yeah, so i do that Monday - Friday, so i only really drive at the weekends.

Yeah that price is unsettling. I mean I guess if you can afford it why not?

How long have you got... I could literally talk about money for hours. Ultimately for me, it all boils down to healthcare.
Like, once i own a property and have sufficient savings to live a modest lifestyle i could really start living life... Travelling, exploring the world etc.

...The problem is that as soon as you get sick those savings can vanish in a year, or less. That's the single best thing about the UK, the NHS is literally incredible.
Unfortunately while Guernsey is psudo-British, we don't have free access to the NHS.
While i am reasonably healthy, i am also only 31... Lots of time for things to go wrong.

    Also, cars, or whatever.

I'm still a firm believer in the healthcare system used prior to the NHS. Much cheaper too

I skimmed through the wikipedia article about your island, guess most of the industry there is finance bros? But yeah here I'm not even sure owning property is worth it (unless you're smart about where/what you buy, which most people aren't). Pay taxes on it, have to fix shit if anything goes wrong (things like roofs aren't cheap), etc. Just a headache. If anything I'd rather just buy some land out in the middle of nowhere and go hang out there once in a while. Or a condo, that's a good mix of responsibility and not but you do pay dearly for it every month. In terms of healthcare, in the US if you work somewhere that offers decent insurance it's not so bad. Most of the people I know have it and I don't exactly hang out with extremely overachieving individuals. If you don't have insurance then yeah you're looking at paying off debt for the rest of your life for a one-time occurrence. The system is fucked and needs an overhaul, sure, but it's not as bad as some Europeans like to believe.

I mean you wouldn't believe the relief I felt when I saw my $4k hospital bill. Was expecting 10 something at least.

I haven't had insurance for like 3-4 years until last month and yeah it makes a big difference but there were always work arounds for most things. Basic stuff from costco doctors is super cheap without insurance and their pharmacy is great - 50% cheaper meds than my "local" pharmacy

On the topic of cars though, next time I'm around I'm going to toddle around the subaru dealership. See they have a 98 legacy that looks clean as hell. Even lightly used foresters are going for pretty cheap too though. Dont really wanna finance anything but my credit score could use some diversification especially if I'm gonna buy a house and or land in the near future

    and dammit I miss subaru.

I know right, there's something about them.

I learned to drive in my family's 03 Forester and drove it around for a while after my own car was near totalled in an accident

It was slow and was shit on gas for what it was, but damn it was fun

The gearbox, clutch and engine noise combo was so right

What would you guys suggest as a way to get rid of a vehicle. I have this jeep compass that got hit by a deer. my insurance company told me it was totalled. So I bought a new car like a week later. than like a week after that, they were like, actually that is a jeeep issue, we will cover the body damage only. That was 7 months ago. I just finally got it to where its drivable, and progressive paid for it. Got them to after intense arguing and going up the manager line. there is deifnitely transmission issues and I have an understanding that if the transmission goes in the next month thats on insurance cause the mechanic that progressive hooked up me with didn't notice a transmission fluid leak and i did like 200 miles on it with the check engine light on that was coded for a loss of tranny fluid pressure.

I have on the list of ways to get rid of it (it can't be sold at all):

    1. leave it with teh keys inside and unlocked so it gets stolen
    2. brake check a tractor trailer
    3. get it up to 70 than throw it into 1st (it has a manual override)
    4. drive it into the desert, rock on the gas pedal into a ditch than wait a week and report it stolen
    5. find someone to pay to do number 4

Considering how big of assholes the phone insurance companies are, I'm sure they'd be pretty damn thorough with a stolen car, would need the police report and whatever the police decide to do, etc. Don't remember where you said you were at but I'm sure you could easily get it stolen in Vegas. But then runs the timer on it getting stolen vs it getting towed and costing you more
