i own a sanyo vpc hd cam, i bought a while back as a backup also. Now i use it primarily for filming weird shit i might see on a daily basis, due to it being so lowkey. i can keep it in my pocket when im out and not notice it as well as not be notice filming when some wild shit takes place. Great really popular camera is a Canon Rebel t3i. Its great for beginner, but you can use it as you get more advanced too. Also since its a little older now its so much cheaper. I think its only around $500 now. Wich is still alot but compared to some other ones its cheap.

I want a camera I can use for first person filming and I can also use for just regular filming, as in, good enough quality to use for regular filming (minimal motion blur and that stuff) and able to strap to my head. Anybody recommend a camera? my budget is about $400 so that shouldnt be a problem

I used to film with a shitty JVC-GRD250 with a kenko 0.43x. I haven't filmed anything in a while, and I don't know if I'm even going to necessarily film skateboarding, but I've been looking to get back into the whole filming scene. I am looking for a mini dv camera, nothing like a vx or gl but something to start off with. I'm looking at a used gs320, based on its general review from the majority of people. I'm also looking at this package on amazon. It comes with

OPT-SC37FE Platinum Series 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens[pretty sure it's a baby death]
Opteka X-GRIP Professional Camera / Camcorder Action Stabilizing Handle with Accessory-shoe for Mic, Flash or Video Light
Opteka VL-20 Super-High Power LED Compact Video Light for Camcorders
    Opteka LCD Screen Protectors
    Lens Cleaning Kit
    Tabletop Tripod

for 120.00 and 150.00 for the used GS320 so 270.00 for the whole setup.

First off, is that a baby death lens? Also, do you think that's a good deal for that whole set up?

couldnt i just get this for $170 and buy the headband for $30 and save $150? because the waterproof case and headband is all I need. and I would have a ton of money left over for a skateboard

So, I'm wondering if I should still go with MiniDV. Also, I'm not a total begginer with filming, I used to film a lot back in the day but I just had a shit JVC+Kenko set up, but it got the job done. I'm looking for something relatively cheap, that would provide good picture, not just for skateboarding, but for short films and stuff too.

I ended up getting a Panasonic gs300, and I just ordered a firewire card for my PC, an 0.2x Opteka Ninja 37mm Fisheye lens, a stabilizing handle, and a Opteka VL-20 external light.

For right now my phone + fisheye + handle + tripod.

If I wanted to I could go to the store tomorrow and come out with a nice t5i setup or something, I'm going to wait though.

anyone know of any good cheap camcorders? possibly a mini one, I want something cheap that records footage decently, something that I can take while travelling and skating. The older models seem cool.

Hey I'm wondering which cameras are capable of achieving golden colours such as the PANASONIC HVX200:

I know the golden colour effect mostly comes down to adjusting the white balance though some are better than others.

any camera with manual settings you can set to achieve that look, you just need to white balance off the sky (or bring something of the right tone of blue with you in case it's not sunny out that day and white balance off that). finding the right tone of blue is actually the trickiest part, if it's not the exact right one your clip will look either red-ish and / or washed up. but blue sky is generally good enough and how most people do it. remember to set the appropriate exposure & shutter speed before you try that white balance trick too or it won't look right. i have an old deadass panasonic mini dv cam and can achieve that look just fine with it. maybe make sure it's 3CCD for decent colors in general

We just finished a 5 year beat of a task to build our App SnipBack. Key feature is it records in the past, so wait for the right trick, then go back and record it! It was built with sports in mind, and skateboarding was top of mind. We even did a promo video featuring it. Check it out:
    https://youtu.be/0VKMw6QGsTE
You can also record at high frame rates, apply slowmo, and create highlight reels. Let me know what you think, and please advise how to make better. Need to get the word out, so if any ideas please share. Our website is www.snipback.com. Only iOS
    Thanks!
