Honestly my hardest change is going from cupsole to vulcanized shoes. I used to wear low top extremely bulky padded cupsole shoes and I would never lace them tight, so loose if I ran with them they would probably fall off my feet. Since moving up to high top shoes I've mostly come across vulcanized shoes, plus now with the ankle injury I actually have to lace my shoes up all the way for the support. Just couldn't get used to how skinny and different feeling the shoes were it took me a year or so to be comfortable in vulcs. The fact that the shoes were high tops did not bother me one bit, I got used to skateboarding with ace wrap around my ankle and then covered with an ankle brace which was very restrictive but provided support I needed. Switching to high top shoes only and not using any other ankle support was day and night I suddenly had more rotation freedom and it felt like a complete upgrade.
