  1. Solid defense of a reasonable point of view in the Video Game thread. I feel like you used to be more left-wing but I could easily be wrong. Either way, it's impossible to argue with people that just say "you're an idiot" when they don't agree with you.
  2. Hard to tell from picture, but what TT and pre amp? Also what cart?
  3. Yup the connection from pre to receiver will be RCA.
  4. Good rule of thumb is to spend more on a cartridge or about the same on it and the pre. So like a 40 dollar pre and 40ish cart should be good on a decent TT and then your speakers are the thing after that to upgrade later when you more cash
  5. I'm fucking dumb and replied on my page again. So read that. Also. Make damn sure it's a phono preamp. There are preamps that aren't for turntable use. Just used to improve audio signals.
  6. Model number is on the back right but it's blurry and I can't see it. That said I don't see a phono input but it's also blurry some of the text on it. So you may need to get a preamp still. But. Now you're down to speakers TT new cartridge and needle if you get a used TT.
  7. I'm an idiot and sent the reply to my profile so read it there lol
  8. Tell me the make and model of your stereo and I'll look it up. Or are you using a crosley that has like built in speakers? If so you need to get a separate amp/receiver. The reddit sidebar will have like three guides. One on what to look for in used turntables, one that explains all the different jargon, etc. so finding a good used TT that you clean up and spend 40 bucks on a new cartridge will be an absolutely massive upgrade
  9. I'm on my phone so it's a bitchc to link to but go to reddit.com/r/vinyl and on the sidebar there's an indie graphic and other info about TTs and buying them. If you can find a good one used at goodwill or something get that over new. But if getting new get the audio technica. The lp120 is considered a good beginner TT. So I would go for that over the lp60. On phone so I'm not gonna compare specs right now but I will later. I imagine the 120 has more controls or something. The other big thing is your speaker setup. If your amplifier doesn't have a phono input you'll need a preamp. I assume since you've been using a TT already you've got a preamp or your amp has phono inputs.
  10. As far as cleaning kits there's like three levels. One is basically standard sanitizing with alcohol and light wiping with a very soft cloth. The next up are those like spin doctor bath sort of things and then finally you have those vaccuum ones. Personally I haven't invested in a cleaning kit yet but I know I really need to grab all my really old ones and clean them. I've done it with alcohol but I'm sure they could use a deeper soak. A brand new record should not have scratches, it is possible but it's pretty unlikely. If you're using a crappy turntable though you're basically damaging the record every time you play it. So if you bought a new album and after one play it has noticeable marks and keeps sounding slightly worse after you play it, there's your answer. In theory on a great TT and proper handling a record should last for a very long time. Probably more plays than you'll ever give it.
