Honestly the movie for brotherhood sucked balls, I see why you stopped watching it.

The first series FMA had nothing to do with the magna, maybe the first 10 episodes of each (FMA. FMAB) had things in common but that's about it.

When FMA was being created the books were not even finished.

The voice change for Al was because he was like 13 - 14 when the first series was created, by the time the brotherhood series was originated he was too mature to continue. So they replaced him on brotherhood, which is another reason why I prefer the FMA series over brotherhood.

I like the sins in the FMA series better, they self motivated and don't require some conspiracy puppet master. On the other hand I do like the father figure from the Brotherhood purely based on how he became an indivudual, 'I'd hate to be guilty of asking too much, but I would just like to leave this flask' then over time you can see how corrupt power has turned his ideology on life.

Hands down the FMA has the superior sound track to brotherhood
