hmm I'm not too sure about bike friendly, I assume it would be because the entire city has people biking over it. St peters is legit, I think Petersham is too but I'm not too sure about Marrickville. Yeah I think you definitely could, if not it's still very close.

Come to the Gold Coast

Hey bro, well since UTS is in the city there's not that many beaches real close by but at the same time it wouldn't take long to get to one from the city on a train ride or even a ferry to one wouldn't take too long. Do you have to find your own housing?

I'd recommend Newtown as a good area, it's basically right next to the city and is a really chilled out/alternative good vibe there...depending on what kind of person you are haha or if you'd prefer the beach look around Cronulla or Bondi...Bondi is super touristy and not too far from the city.
