I haven't played in such a long time, are there any sites that are good for begginers?

That site is okay, nothing special. It's got some music theory but they don't go very in depth. I think your best bet is to find some songs you like and just work on learning them by tab. Build up from there.

I improve mostly by writing riffs that challenge my playing dexterity. This allows me to write for my solo project's demo and improve simultaneously. If you want to play lead, learn some scales and gradually improve the speed you can play them at over time. Then, when you write a solo in that scale, it'll be easier to play.
