Before trying this trick you should know
1. Heelflips - Must have these down good
2. Varial Kickflips - Just to get used to the rotation
3. Bs Heelflips - Don't have to know them, but it's a major plus
4. High Pop Shuv its - Just getting used to the hard pop of the board
Steps
1. Ride at a good speed, and set your front foot up like a heelflip, but what really helps me is putting it in the center of the board with just my heel on the board. Some of you might do it different, just experiment with the front foot. And as for the backfoot just have it on the tail like a pop shuv it/varial
2. Now that you have the foot placement right, and you're riding at a good speed, begin to bend down a little bit and then start to pop the board really hard and scoop the board just like a varial but instead of flicking with your foot just flick ~STRAIGHT~out with your heel.
3. Once you have flicked straight out with your heel, suck your legs up really high, it's kind of like an out and in with your front foot, now some people like to think of it as a bs heel but no body varial, or some like to just think of it as a varial but with the heel flicking really fast.
4. Now the board should be coming straight ahead of you, so be prepared to jump really high and to wherever the board goes. For me it goes in front of me. So wait for the board to come around, stomp down and ride away happy.
Some Common Problems with the Inward Heelflip
1. Landing just with front foot - Remember to suck your back foot up as soon as you flick with your heel. Lift that sucka up high and commit to it!!!
2. Landing halfway - This always used to happen to me, you should have less of your heel hangin on the edge of the board and flick really hard straight out, and you can even angle your front foot. That helped me with the rotation as well. Suck your legs up and land. Give the board time to complete the rotation!
3. Land in Manual/Tailstop position - This was another problem for me, you just have to try to bring your feet together, it's hard to explain and it's even harder to do, but just keep practicing.
Here's an example of an inward heel I did two days ago Slow Mo'd for you
