This is a guide on how to backside flip. A backside flip is just a combination of the backside 180 and a kickflip, so you'll want to have your kickflips and backside 180's down pretty good.
SETUP
Place your front foot just like you would a kickflip, and make sure it's in a comfortable area to drag and flick.
Place your back foot on the top outside corner or the tail, so you can scoop and spin, almost like a pop shove-it, but you spin with it.
BEND AND POP
While your bending, you'll want to start to wind up the opposite way you are going to spin(frontside). As you're ready to pop, unwind and once your shoulders are parallel with your board, you have to pop/scoop and keep spinning to start rotating the 180.
FLIP AND SPIN
As you pop, you want to keep spinning like you're doing a backside 180, but instead of just spinning, you want to drag your front foot up and flick out so you do a kickflip. Make sure you keep your feet in the air, and spin with the board at the same time, thus doing a 180 and a kickflip.
LANDING
There are two different ways people land.
1.) While the board is flipping and you're above it, you want to catch your flip early, so you land on the board but still in the air as a 90. While in the air on the board, you want to spin the board with your backfoot and stay on it with your front foot, making yourself doing a backside 90 after the flip.
2.) In this way of landing, you catch the board in the air after it flips at 180 degrees, then you land.
(Way 1 is an option if you can already do these, and you just want to improve them, or you have a really high kickflip and backside 180. This may take more practice than Way 2.)
COMMON PROBLEMS
-You get the full flip, but only land a 90 degree 180-
SOLUTION: You have to wind up more, and pop higher. Also flick out, not down so you can stay in the air longer.
-You land the full backside 180, but can't flip the full kickflip-
SOLUTION: Pop harder and flick out. Try to keep your legs in the air longer.
TIPS
This is sort of confusing, but try to think of it as a backside 180 combined with a kickflip, not a backside flip.
Remember to flick up and out, not down because you probably won't get the full flip or spin.
Feel free to ask questions or add some stuff, or just comment.
