Ok i've only been skating for 15 days, but this really helped me a lot when I was ollieing over 6.5" of wood and i ollied an 8" deck today and got it about 6/10 times. Today i was trying to ollie, so i went and got my video camera, and taped myself. Then i taped it when i was ollieing over about 6.5" of wood stacked. I kept on knocking it over, damn it was freaking frustrating. So i looked at the tape and i couldn't find anything wrong. Then finally after 30 or so attempts, i ollied over and i got it on tape. So i played it back. I knew exactly what i had to do. Earlier, i was bending my knees, popping hard, and dragging, but wasn't getting over and my ollie sucked and my back foot kept the tail from getting up. When i looked at the part of the tape that i made over the wood, i noticed that i bent my knees, popped and the drag, but when i popped my entire leg/foot was lagging behind me and was not in the way of the board, and when i was dragging, it took the board up real high b/c my back foot was not in the way. So when u pop try to kind of slide it off the tail when u pop and jump high so you knees hit you chest, bend your knees and your drag will lift the board very high, since your back foot isn't in the way. After you jump you will pretty much level out in the air and you feet will be over the board again, and then bend your knees to absorb the landing, and ride away. Also if you’re trying to ollie over something, get as close to the object without hitting it, and then ollie. let me know if this helps.

jumping high while sucking ur feet up to ur chest while dragging on the nose is the key...

another thing to that helps me is not to think about the drag when ur ollieing over something, get close enough to the object, pop really hard and jump as high as u can,the rest will pretty much follow thorugh. Also the farther back you flace your front foot, the higher you go.

believe it or not that means ur wussing out. i had the same problem when i started skating. just build up courage and stay on its only cuz ur scared ur back foot is gonna push board down and make u slip. trust me u wont just try not to be scared. cuz u think ur gonna slip its like instinct just dont give up
