Talk about them here, your favorite brand of blanks, etc etc.

This should clear up some of the clutter.

Oh, and to anybody who doesn't know - BLANK is not a company, it is a way to describe a board that doesn't have a graphic on it. They are usually much cheaper than graphic decks, and many of them are just as good.

Some popular blank sites include:
http://www.blankdecks.com
http://www.blankskatesupply.com
http://www.skateshed.com
http://www.ebay.com (Moose Skateboards and Pop-Lites)
http://www.elskateshop.com

you should put the minilogo website up there.

but yeah, blanks are just the same as logoboards.

i like blankskatesupply, the concave is a little strange (mellow concave with a somewhat steep nose.), but its the highest quality blank ive ridden. traditional mold blankdecks boards are awesome too, but thats your most common shop blank, so there is nothing really wrong with it, unless you like mellow concaves, this is on the medium ish side.

I'm gonna vouch for the quality of Mini Logo decks - they are GREAT. Really good pop, good concave, doesn't chip easily.. you really get your money's worth (about $30).

http://www.blankdecks.com - Have a good variety of decks...My favorite is monster steep concave...Some of the decks are strong, some just plain out suck, you'll have to try most of these to see what you like/dislike...

http://www.blankskatesupply.com - Very strong, and good pop, but the pop dosent last as long as i would have liked it...

http://www.skateshed.com - Hate these decks, had 3 friends get some off of them and they broke within 2 weeks...They said they felt good, just didnt feel durable...

http://www.ebay.com (Moose Skateboards and Pop-Lites) - Good for bulk ordering, varies depending on what you get...

http://www.elskateshop.com - dont know anyone who tryed these...

http://chapmanskateboards.com/I have a had a syndrome 7.5 blank, it is from the same distributor as Plan B. Wide nose, somewhat thin tail, mellow concave. One of my favorite decks. What 50% of the park kids around here skate are Chapmans, a blank branch off of Zoo York. They sell for about $35 bucks. I currently have a Pop-Lite blank in my room ( I am skating a Krooked ) and I plan to put it together soon.

i had a mini-logo and it was nice while it lasted. It's concave was my favorite part. Ive noticed that they are nice and tuff but to me they could be a little lighter. I broke mine not long ago though. I ollied a 5 stair and landed with bad form and broke it in front of the back truck so i say that was my bad not the boards. U can sometimes get them as cheap as 25 on amazon!!!! My only beef was the weight and they make lighter versions.
ps: lol not a fatass btw im only 130 the board broke cuz i suck

..Or I could get a blank with grip at my local skateshop for 20 bucks...

The BEST Deal in this thread so far was on blankdecks.com the one where they give you a complete for 70 bucks. I would pick destructo or venture trucks, jessup grip, canadian blank, pro white grooved wheels, and all that good shit.

I ride a Mini-Logo right now and I have a blank from Blank Skate Supply thats waiting to be used.

The Mini-Logo has nice pop and good concave and doesn't chip easily, but I would like them to be a bit more durable. I have an unexplained crack on the far right side of the board near the front bolts. I can't remember how I got it, and it doesn't even effect the board itself (The board doesn't even feel weaker than before or anything, but the crack is just there, not serving a purpose).

As for the BSS deck, I dunno. I've been hearing mixed reviews about them. I guess I'll find it once I skate it.

i agree...but at the same time i dont...

it doesnt take $50 to make a board, and "blank" decks are now giving the same quality of say a baker/zero/alien workshop/(insert favorite deck here) for half the price...so it may be a good thing because deck prices may drop...

at the same time, blanks might just take over.......

i think skate one is the parent company of both powell and mini-logo: skateone.com

i've been riding a mini-logo deck for the past year. it's lasted me the whole year. maybe it's because i mostly skate at the skate park. another thing that maybe makes it last so long is that i don't care which side is the nose and which side is the tail, so i wear them out evenly. i worry that this deck is too heavy though. i really want to try a santa cruz powerlyte.

Mini logo you choose a color you want and it has a small ML logo at right below the front truck. So technically its not a blank but it is considered a blank company.

I just switched from my habitas bamboo to some moose blank from ebay. I got the dipped white one, it was terrible. It's heavier than the stained ones(which was already heavy, got no pop (really stiff), super thick. I would stay away from those. I can't believe I ordered 4 of them.

Debut is my blank company...I think its british only, but it IS really shite lol...The wood chips and grinds off really fast, the trucks shatter easily and its not very good pop.....

But what do you expect for £8?

I ordered those pop-lite blanks a little while ago. First one broke in 3 weeks, but they are really light and have alot of pop(hence the name pop-lite) Anyway, the griptape that comes with it is complete shit, in 1 week all of the grit came off, I had to replace it with some mob. If you want some cheap bulk decks that skate pretty good, I suggest these ones. But if you do order them, be sure to buy some better grip.

blanks > other deck brands... they are 1)cheap 2)good shaped 3)dont chip 4)standard pop 5) sometimes buying them benefits your local skate shop which may lead to increasing of skate interesting by other people !

Hey Everyone,

This is Jeff. I own Blank Skate. I used to post on here a while back.

I've actually been so busy lately that it is hard to get on here and post as much as a I like. I was shocked to see how much this site has grown. It is really quite amazing.

The reason I have been so busy is because I have started my own woodshop. We are now manufacturing our decks right here in Pittsburgh using 100% USA Hardrock Maple and Non-Toxic Glues. What we do is a little different than what most people who sell "blank decks" do.

We actually take the time to make our boards and sell them direct. We do not buy factory seconds or chinese boards and label them our own. We take a lot of pride in what we do. Blank Skate is 100% Skater Owned and Operated.

We sponsor a team of 8 Skaters. We love 3rd Lair and thier Top Shop Competition. We've been there twice now taking home a 9th and a 5th Place out of all the shops in the country.

We do demos, product tosses, contests and charity work. We have just started our own magazine that is free to view online and will come out every two months.

Some of the posts stated that "blanks" don't give back to the skateboarding. And you may be shocked to find out that I actually believe that. I don't belive in dumping mass quantities of imported skateboards into the market or dumping them on popular auction sites. That does not contribute anything to skateboarding. It only serves to line the pockets of those who do it.

That is exactly why we do things differently. We are a Manufacturer/Shop/Deck Company all in one. We give back way more than we take. (Just look at my financial records - ha ha)

ANy feedback you have or questions you may have for me, feel free to ask. I have always been very open about what we do and who we do it for.

the skateboard that has lasted me the longest is a DSM Woodshop Resin-8 / 8-Ply Epoxy
made in China...
I ride 8.25" and normally and I go through about a board every two to three weeks depending on how often and hard I skate... the tail lasts a lot longer than anythang else I've rode. it just keeps its pop for way longer... must be the epoxy they are aloud to use in China, just don't try to eat it 'cuz you never know when it comes from China... try a DSM blank Resin-8 for your self... it is a great deck ...

Im CRA Z!

Can someone please put up a photo of the monster steep's concave from blankdecks.com?They don't have a picture of the concave.

I rode the neon blank deck and the blank that has pop from blankdecks.com.One of the neon blanks came with a crack.I still would say blankdecks.com is a good place to buy decks.

Ebay isnt good. It is a shame that we live in a country fuel by consumption driven by the desire to buy the cheapest possible product at the cheapest possible price. We just want it and want it cheap. We don't care where it comes from or who we support in the purchase.

I am sorry to hear that consumption patterns are the same in Austrialia.

When you purchase based only on price, the costs start to far exceed the value.

For example:
Who makes that product? Was it made in your country? Does it support your Economy?
What is in the product? Chances are that the country it was made in does have the same working conditions or product standards as your own country.

The second point:
You can buy imported crap all day long that retails 40-70% below what it would have cost you to buy AMERICAN.

I've bought so many thing thats were imported because they were cheaper. But I soon started to notice that they break, don't hold up, or even damage something else. I bought those based on price, not purpose. If I would have bought the same product that was american made it may have cost me $10 more but would have lasted me 10 TIMES LONGER.

When buy based on purpose it is actually CHEAPER and you CONSUME LESS. Make smart decisions. Maybe some items are more expensive, but they'll last you a whole lot longer.

Buy only what you need, not what you want.

Also, there really arent 100000 blank companies out there. There are a bunch of guys who buy chinese wood and factory seconds. And then there is Blank Skate who actually makes a 100% AMERICAN Made skateboard deck.

Our Wood comes from the Great Lakes Region of the USA
Our Glue comes from Ohio
Our Sealants come from Pittsburgh PA.

We take alot of pride in that. We also end up selling our boards for less than many companies sell the chinese imports.

yeah man, iv'e always skated better on a blank skate deck, iv'e gone through quite a few pro decks and each time i'm never as good as when i had one of your decks.

the only problem i had with you guys was when you didn't send me the sticker i ordered:-\

hahah, it's cool though, i only ordered it to get the price up so i would get the skate tool.

GWB

Dude BlankSkateSupply is legit. All I did was add them as a friend on Myspace and they started sending me all kinds of discounts. Keep in mind the decks are already 19.95. Recently I teamed discounts and got 3 decks and a sheet of griptape for just under the price of a pro deck/ no griptape.

BlankSkate decks aren't like the rest. They are shaped RIGHT and last long. Honestly I don't even understand why people are so dumb. Not even in terms of pro v blank but blank v blank: if I had a choice between a $30.00 blank from some sketchy company or a $20.00 blank from a tried and tested one.... it's basically a no brainer.

Thanks Jeff for setting that up for us broke-ass skaters. My decks come in 2 days and I'm stoked.

Ill ride anything as long as its made out of maple wood. As for blanks, shuv-its are relible, alot of people in L.A. Ride these, in my opinion there alittle on the heavy side, but are durable as hell. But I found a spot in downtown that slangs blanks for 10 bucks and there pretty decent.
the only thing I see on the board is a little "turbo" right under the the back truck. "turbo" sounds cheap I know, but they skate good, and the price is great.

I guess I'll have to get used to it, and is it just me or is black majic really hard to grip, because I ussually do a pretty good job on my grip jobs but this is the first time I have had black majic and its the worst griptape i have ever put on. and my mistake it came with 7 stickers

I never paid for the stickers, So I skate the deck and wheels for about an hour and a half, at first I couldn't land anything but after I tweaked some foot positions I had my my best kickflips ever, I couldn't really get my varial flips, I'll mwork on those tommorow, over all a really good deck

Blanks are great, but you need to make sure that you buy some quality wood blanks.

I've skated a couple a while ago and I loved em, I just don't like ordering boards online and no local shop sells blanks.
