View Full Version : Those old blue PS2 discs...

Well, I was gonna play some old school Madeen (2002 only one I have) and popped it in my PS2. Well, it didn't play, I got like five bajillion disc read errors. And I asked my brother an he said it doesn't play any of the old blue backed diiscs anymore. Is this true? Anything I can do? I don't feel like going out and buying a new Madden at the moment.

yeah, my THPS3 doesnt work.

yea i heard ps2s had a problem reading blue bottom discs, which is why they changed them in the first place. i guess teh recent ones dont play them at all. sucks, i dunno what to do.

blue bottom discs are cd-roms,,silver back discs are dvd-roms.
it says on the label side of the discs which one it is

i have some blue backed ps2/ps1 games, and they work fine for me

You need to take your ps2 apart, find a small white cog that sets the laser's height above the disc. It's either too close or too far away, the only way to get it right is trial and error.

Well, I think I can live without Madden 2002 rather than completely fucking my PS2 up...

Yeah, mine doesn't play them either. It won't play the blue or the black backed disks. It has to do with the version. My brothers is the newer version of the 1st generation and it plays it fine.

Its not that hard thats how i cleaned my lens when it got dirty.

Well, I found out if I keep reseting the Playstation about 5,000 times it will play it...
if it keeps making a weird loud click noise on every unsuccessful attempt to play the game you need to use a lens cleaner

just take it apart and be careful with it...dont snap the little tape thing in it or else your pwn3d... then just take a cotton swab with lense cleaner and then pow NIB ps2

I had an old one, but I won a PS2 and sold my old one to my cousin. That was awhile ago though.
