The canadian maple ones are THICK AS SHIT. The super steep concave are nice though, regular concave..lol, but GREAT shape and length and width, etc.

i currently live in courtenay BC and theres a huge longboarding scene here because of the rediculous amount of hills.
Unlike regular skating, theres many different types of longboard decks for different styles of longboarding. Like whether you want mad carves or just for cruising. I wouldnt recomend buying a blank longboard complete. A good brand is Sector 9, you can go on their website and check what the different purpose of their decks are.
Or you could do what I did, I went on ebay and bought a set of longboard specific trucks, wheels and bearings. THen i went to the website of a local Vancouver company that makes their own decks and bought one online.

they have descriptions for what the decks are for, pretty expensive tho

you'd probably have a hard time finding decent selection of longboards in a skate shop. If you're limited to buying from shops I would say just go and ask the guy working which one of their boards would be best. OTherwise, go online and look around. Sector 9 OG Cloud 9, would be could for just cruising.

just leave the bottom how it is. painting it will wreck it, it happend to mine.
put stickers on it if you want.
grip tape. who cares lol. if your looking to be different get a color tape.

my idea was to get a blank grip and put the stickers under the blank grip so the stickers will stay on till i get a new grip, but is the clear grip tape any good

I like their decks, and they don't chip very much for some reason. But they aren't very strong at all. Funny enough, I cracked the tail on the "sturdy mold" kickflipping a two foot ledge. It's description claims it to be the strongest, most superior concave of any deck out there. HAH!

i guess if they break easily it kinda sucks does anyone know any cheap blanks that dont break easily?
but also if you think about if you buy in bulk you can get ten decks with shipping for the cost of three average decks
