This is a guide on what Sb-C is and how to navigate and to use different options and I hope this helps whoever needs assistance. I know I had a difficult time with it and once I learned it was pretty simple. So anyways I'll begin.
What is the purpose of a forum?
The purpose of the forum is to post threads and make posts that can affect people in different ways. I look at it as a way to entertain yourself or wind down when you can't skate or are bored. Don't look like it as life because they are 2 seperate things and getting them mixed up makes you look pretty pathetic. So anyways I'm gonna explain how to use the forum and of all the little features it holds.
(*The FAQ is usually the best place to get info on this stuff but since the people who need to know this stuff don't look at it I thought it would be better to make a thread.)
Basic functions
Here I'll talk about basic things that you need to know if you plan use this forum.
Making Threads/Posts
Explanation: A thread is like the starting of a conversation. When you think of a very good topic that you want to share with the site then you post as thread. you do this by clicking thread tools when you are vewing a forum, then select "Post a New Thread" ( see picture below )
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/5268/threadiq6.png OR http://www.skateboard-city.com/messageboard/images/buttons/newthread.gif
both of these will take you to an editor where you can type your thread or post. Here is a picture guide that might help you.

Once you understand how to use all of these commands you will have a lot better experience here.
You can use these options as well:

Here are some more helpful things when you are surfing Sb-C.
The forum search button
This is how you can find keywords in othe posts and wether the same topic has been made before. I highly suggest using this, because if you make the same topic as someone else has you will be flamed to no end. :-D

The main messageboard search button
This is pretty much the same thing as the forum one but this searches all of the forums.
The Quick Links Options
This is pretty much just some helpful links in one box. It is like a faster way to get to your options. it looks like this,

The View new posts option
This is a way to get updated on the 100 newest posts if you are bored and want to get in a new convo. It's by the search and the calendar buttons.
The Videos Section
This is where you can watch vids of other members and if Tom-E feels your footy is good enough he'll post it there too. Here is a pic,

Your User Cp
This is where you have to pay attention and I have done my best to help you with this.

And here is a quote from LFF's nOOb guide on The cp:
USER CP
This is a very important part of the site, it's basically where you go to do all your account editing. I suggest you browse around the User CP for a bit before you post and customize your account to fit your liking.
BASIC ACCOUNT ITEMS
Activation of Signatures, Private Messaging (PM), Avatars, etc.
Alright, this one isn't too hard and all of these can be found in the User CP, located in the top navigation bar all the way to the left. In the navigation column to the left of the screen you hsould see a list of links, click on the "Edit Options" link.
Scroll through this page and you should come across the PM secion first. Check the box that says "Enable Private Messaging" amd, wallah, PM is now good to go. There are other options as well, check those if you like; they are simply personal preference.
Scroll down some and you will come across the "Thread Display Options" section. Check the first three boxes i nthis section to enable signatures, avatars, and images. All of those should work now as well.
To enable smilies and such go to the last section of the page and click the drop down box. Select either the Standard Editor or the Advanced Interface. Mine is currently set on Standard Editor. Everything else in this section is basically personal preference so go through and customize it to fit your liking.
Adding an Avatar
What is an avatar? It's that small picture located under many people's user names, so how do you get one? It's easy. Go to your User CP and click the "Edit Avatar" option on the left. It's pretty easy from there. Just get the image URL and paste it into the box on the page, or you can select one from your computer by selecting the "Browse" option. There is a size limit: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB and you cannot upload animated GIFs.
Adding a Sig
Your signature is a section which appears under every one of your posts. You can do a lot with it, put text, pictures, animated GIFs, etc. Go to your User CP and click the "Add Signature" option. You should see a box come up much like the box you can type replies to threads in. Put whatever you wish in here, whether it be a picture or text. Put pictures in the same way you would put them in a post. However, there is a limit on the amount of room your sig can take up, so if you have a large picture or a lot of text some of it may get cut off.
I'm not gonna explain every last thing to you because you need to learn somethings on your own. Let me just give you a bit of advice though, Look at all your options and keep trying if things seem to not work. Look at everything that is in your menus and see how you can use it to make your stay here better. So in short, BE CURIOUS.
