Consolidated skateboards in a fight with Nike

I just read a thing about how Consolidated skateboards is trying to chase Nike out of skateboarding. They are doing this "don't do it" campaign and trying to get everyone involved. I kinda think it's a waste of time. Everyone is going to pick shoes that they like not something that is forced to them. I like the Vans and Supra but have worn Nike Dunks before. They let go of Seth Mccalum because he was wearing nikes. I talked to the guy on myspace and he sent me a GIANT ASS BOX OF STICKERS. I mean this shit is massive. About 20 huge ass stickers. 500+ regular stickers and maybe 100 regular stickers. I don't even know if I feel like using them. I'm not really for big companies like they're talking about. I've never been a fan with nikes. Only ones I like are Zoom Tres and P-Rods. Plus if the local shop here found out I was doing this I would get the shit beat out of me.

Unfortuanatly for you all, Nike, like every other company, is in it for the money. They happen to make great shoes that not only look great but skate great as well. So it's pretty much a lost cause, as Nike is becoming more and more popular among pro/ams and kids alike.

I understand what they are saying. Nike IS in it for the money, but that doesn't change the fact they make awesome skate shoes.

No matter if a skateboarding company makes awesome shoes or not, if a skateboarder is a real skateboarder, he/she won't let some large power hungry company take control of them anyway. The REAL skateboarders will always be in control. I think it's fine to own a couple pairs of Nike, I think I'd like to have a pair just from all the good talk I've heard about them. But I don't think anyone's gonna let them 'take over.'

I'm sorry to jump into your guys' convorsation, I am in no way trying to flame, I just wanted to say a few things and share my thoughts.

The guy in the kid's sig probably earned all of his money by playing guitar, being in a famous band, having fun, sticking with what he wanted and working hard for it.

Nike worked hard for something else, which was just about every sport you can think of except skateboarding. Which isn't bad, I'm not putting them down because they didn't make skateboarding shoes in the past. I actually give them respect for all of the money and popularity they earned through their sporting goods.

Now here's what confuses me. When a jock at school says that they skate, and starts buying Callicuts, or some type of DC's or just because it's the fad at the time, most skateboarders don't like it.
What's the difference between your common everyday poser jock kid, and Nike? The Jock earned their respect on the football field, not the skateboard.

Or, here's another example. 99.9999999% of you guys get your feather's ruffled when you hear things about girl skateboarders--mostly girl skateboarders who are in it for the guys. They're not skating for the real reasons you should skate. They're just in it for the 'skater guys.'

Honestly, I think the skate world took to hard of blows from Viva La Bam and the whole Etnies callicut era. Skating shouldn't be a popularity contest. I've honestly yet to see anything negative from Nike. I have even yet to see a pair of Nike SB's up close.
You guys have to admit though they are putting money into skaters pockets (not like Paul Rodriguez needs anymore) still though just think of the pros they sponsor. There is less team crowding (which I hate). Basically they're giving more skaters chances at something they love and are putting out from what I've heard "dang good" shoes.

6.0's are COMPLETELY different than SBs, it's an entirely different line and they aren't even made for skateboarding - they are made for all of the extreme sports(yes, skating IS included, but 6.0 includes biking and such). To sell SBs you have to go through a lengthy process with nike to get a Seller's Account, whereas I have a feeling you can get 6.0s pretty much everywhere.

If PacSun gets SBs I will never do another crooked grind.
