This is a growing problem

It seems to become worse and worse recently. And I don't know if making this thread is that good of an idea but I just want to know if anyone else has noticed what I think is happening. It has to do with mods/admins. Do they not seem to become more and more... I don't know how to put this... It seems they overreact to things to harshly.

I don't want this to seem a senseless rant so here are some examples:

If you say "GEEP" now, it is a warning. Over one word. The reasoning (I believe LFF said it, but RATTM told us) was that it starts some big thing and kills a thread. But the words such as "noob" and "fag" and racist words are allowed, which are likely to start a fight and thus possibly ruin a thread.

Another would be the closing of threads when there will be like three replys, and the thread itself is possible for good discussion. A mod will give their answer and then just close it. It is often an opinion based question, too..

They delete threads. A thread can have a few pages of good, non-spam discussion and it just suddenly disapears. I can understand the generic "the thread has been done before" argument, but sometimes it hasn't. And it can be so interesting that I search it and don't find it.

And one thing that just will get on my nerves is that a mod will close a thread without a reason, they jus type something like "Fuck you" or "You fail" and close it. Even though the thread has potential for good discussion..

SO has anyone else noticed that this seems to happen more and more. There will be possibly three or four locked threads on a single page of topics!

I agree, some kid made the best thread ever, it was like "national blow job day" were he tried to liven up thanksgiving, but the mods closed it without a reason and it was good for discussion and mose people enjoyed it and thought it was cool.

A prime example is when the almost 1000 post long thread got cut. I PMed LFF about it and he said it was turning into a spam fest, which it was, so I accepted it.

There are plenty more topics about that are good, just go on them.

Its their job to watch over the site. That is what they do by closing threads. People like GHND recognise that the thread is prone to spiral (even if it is good) and he closes it.

There's a balence. The mods sometimes have to balence between doing they're job and keeping the site spam free, and being fun killers. I personally think theyre need to be a few of these "bad" threads, where you just talk, mess around, have fun, whatever. I don't see how it's a bad thing.

Well, I will state some things, but like you I will not really explain myself. Because if you don't then I don't need to either. First off, I have searched for some threads that have been closed. And I either find some threads that are like it but already closed, or nothing at all. Sometimes it is good to have a new one, if I make a thread is it right to close it and say "there was already a thread on this, six months ago". Over time some opinions can change. If you have the same member stating how they feel twice in a thread, and their feelings change, it can get kind of confusing.

And worthless threads? It may seem worthless to you, so you should possibly just avoid it. It seems to be of some value to another member, because they took the time to make it. I can understand some threads being worthless, such as a spam attack, but some aren't.

There are some threads that are pretty interesting that get deleted, but thats because they are starting to get spam in them or are just retarded.
They have a hard job. They have to know when to delete a thread or leave it.
I agree that the pointless threads could become good discussions, But just make a topic about that discussion so you wont clutter the other thread.
