First, system requirements for Windows XP
5 GB Hard Drive
64 MB RAM
266 MHz Pentium II processor

A really crappy PC if you ask me

What Microsoft recommends is:

20 GB+ Hard drive
512 MB RAM
2 GHz Processor

Oh, the moderately new technology that we have today.

What I recommend is:
80 GB Hard Drive AT LEAST
1 GB DDR2 RAM
Pentium 4 6xx Series Processor
NVidia GeForce 5xxx GPU AT LEAST
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card

Unless your are running a laptop, then

60 GB Hard Drive
Fastest Pentium M you can get,
1 GB DDR SODIMM RAM
The best NVidia graphics you can get

Part 2, Maintenence

Defrag your Hard Drive(s) every month
Scandisk the Hard Drive(s) every month before the defrag
Disk Cleanup the Hard Drive(s) Every month before the Scandisk
Windows Update every 2 weeks
Uninstall any unused programs

Part 2.1 Preventative Maintenance

Do a virus scan every month
Do a spyware scan every month
Do an adware scan every month
(Note: the Adware scan may be included with the spyware scan.)

Part 3, Get rid of stuff

Yes, that means you, you filthy little perverts who have no minds, get rid of all that porn on your computers.
