1. Either replace the sheild, or buy some Rockets.
2. Just about any skateshop bought oil will work. I use Rocket Propellat though.
3. There is no way to fix rusted bearings, and to prevent them; don't ride through water, and keep them oiled and clean.
4. http://www.californiabearing.com/lubeinstructions.htm
I must reitterate this, DO NOT USE WD-40.
5. Either your bearings suck, they're dirty, or it's your truck. Most truck axles aren't perpendicular to the side of the hangar, and this causes them to act weird, and not spin as fast.

ive found it out. the perfect way to clean bearings trust me. i took a rusty one that didnt spin and now its faster then and abec 5.
heres the ingridients:
1. any kind of pipe rust cleaner.
2. jewlery cleaner
3. "oops" remover.
4. benedril spray
5. engine oil
now mix it all together in the jeawlery cleaner container. now dip the bearing in the mix and dry them quikly. the wont rust cuz the rust cleaner also prevents it. trust me.

Engine oil? Uh-oh.
I'd say the only time ever to use WD-40 is if your bearings are so completely rusted they won't spin, just douse it with WD-40. MY friend and I took this shitty old deck, trucks, wheels and bearings and used to skate off this ledge into a pool. A lot of fun, and afterwards we'd just cover it in WD-40.
