Hopefully hearing these 2 bands will really encourage you to look more into your local music scene.

www.myspace.com/floptheband Great band, the song "Hello" is so mellodic, after hearing this you'd never guess such an unknown band like that could sound so good.

http://www.myspace.com/anaujirammusic Amazing grunge band, but if it wasn't for me looking through random myspace profiles of local bands I would have never discovered them.

My point?

There are a ton of bands who have such great songs and sounds but will never be heard because too many mindless moron kids think that the only good bands out there are the bands being played 30 times a day on all the lame radio stations and the bands playing on that one hour every blue moon that mtv decides to actually play music.

Fuck Green Day, Fuck Panic at the Disco, fuck Hawthorne Heights, fuck System of a Down. There are soo many other better bands in your own damn neighborhood waiting for you to take your head out of your ass and giving your local scene a chance. And this even goes for rap artists too, theres a rapper out in my local scene right now who raps about the most meaningful things ever, some of it actually brought tears to my eyes, but no we all have to hear Kanye West bitch and cry because he's not famous enough.

I hope this gave some of you the push you need to get a mind of your own.

I agree with the points you make because there are bands which won't be heard because they will never a chance at the big stage. But the local scene is my area is CRAP! Every band except like 3 are goth, and their music is shit. Me and my band are hoping to make a change and inject some ska and punk into this area.

My band and me have been forntunate enough to be formed in a place where punk rock and screamo are pretty big (marbella, spain) and we're doing quite well because of the scene round my area.
however like you said some bands wont take to the stage , maybe its nerves maybe its just laziness and because of this the ''scenes'' are dwindling away and they wont get noticed , so to anyone in a area where punk or whatever music there into isnt really big , make it big take to the stage and promote your music , make a change.

Yea we've got some good local band if you look for em. http://www.myspace.com/socialcontrol ska punk there. With my band and a friend of ours starting out we've got alot of support and such pretty quickly so our scene actually seems to be improving.

local music scene here sucks, too many emo and punk bands only a few metal bands I think theres only like 5. 3 are good, 1 is alright but still needs improvement, and 1 should just give up. Their lyrics suck, the music is terrible, both guitars are tuned differently ones sharp the other flat the bassest tries to be a badass by head banging really fast to slow tempo music the singer can't growl, think of hair metal like poison. Their name even sucks worse then the music and singing...."Death Rope Stockers" 1000% gay!!!!

My local music scene has a forum more active than SB-C. Local music pwns.

Plus every band that is overrated now was a shitty local band at one point. I saw silverstein so many times as the first band in a show...maybe its why I still hate them now.

I don't hear SOAD on the radio, I listen to a top 40 station. I do know what you mean though.

I don't think Barrie has much of a local scene though, and most of the bands here are likely to be country.
