View Full Version : What Makes a Deck Durable?

Shape preference aside, what makes a deck durable? Almost all decks are made out of 7-ply hardwood maple. Besides the few exceptions that use some kind of construction trick, all decks should be the same durability, right? So then, what makes an AWS more durable than a Flip when both are made out of the same thing? Is the idea of durability varying between brands just mental, and the real reason your (insert brandname) broke or chipped so fast is because you kept stomping down flips primo, or landed that big set off-bolts?
Was thinking about this today, and I'm wondering if durability is really even something to worry about when choosing a brand for a new deck.

crooked09, Dwindle Distribution still uses maple from canada, the decks are just cheaper because they cost less to make... because they dont pay there workers as much. i have a Blind Resin8ply and its awesome, i've had it for about a month, and it still has its pop and shape, I recomend it if you want a durable deck.
