I know that I'm going to be bashed for this, but Green Day's American Idiot. I didn't expect much when it came out, seeing as Green Day started going downhill after their third album, but then I listened to it and liked it. I think it's a good album.

i actually really liked from first to last-dear diary, my teen angst has a body count. i didn't think i would because i hate bands that take the emo thing too far, but i liked it

Death Cab For Cutie. I always thought they were a punk band which i'm not really a fan of, but I just listened to them recently, and they are really good! A lot like The Shins.

the strokes- first impresions of earth. i thought it would be okay, but it one of my favorites, also the smashing pumpkins-mellon collie and the infinte sadness. that one is great too.
