Well...dum-dum-dum....

how many of you smoke, or should I ask how many don't smoke?

Well...I started smoking ciggs about 6 months ago....

I've been trying to quit, I just think it sucks, and they're over-necesarily harsh.

Now, I think I'm kinda going through withdrawl, the smoke makes me sick...

But, don't take this too far...I'll still hit a bowl of good weed when available...

My friend was smoking a cig a few days ago and I was like "lemme hit that and see whats up." He handed it to me and I took a hit off it. Nothin special. Just felt like how it does when I accidently reach the tobacco in a blunt. I wouldnt start though.

ive smoked litterally 5 cigs in the past 3 weeks.

as for quitting, get some nicotine paches, nicotine gum, and stop thinking about ciggarettes alltogether

INCORRECT.

The bit you think is the filter is actually the bit the smoke should be coming from. Otherwise known as the "cherry"

Been smoking since I was 17...Its been 9 years now and I wish I could quit..
Besides being out of breathe when I skate its too expensive...
Let me do the math..
Average: $4.00/pack
Amount: 1pack/day
Years: 9
360 x $4.00 = $1460.00 a year
$1460.00 x 9 = $13140.00 total amount spent in the time i've smoked!
WOW!!!! I could have built a skatepark by now!

Pfft. Dats weak, try 5 sigs in just one hour.

Actually 5 cigs is what I smoke on my way to school and it's only a 10 minute drive with traffic.

Dying is a pretty positive thing. I plan to be dead by the age of 50. If I for some reason make it past 50, it's suicide.

EDIT: About quitting, it is all a mental thing. Patches and shit don't help you. You've just got to get into the mind set that you can quit. I had a friend who smoked those cigs that are supposed to help you quit and that didn't do anything. He also used patches and that didn't do anything either.

I had alot of troub;e quitting over Christmas Break, The best thing to do would be to smoke a a bowl everytime you start feeling withdrawl symptoms, cause they're a bitch yo get passed.

If you really want to quit smoking, you'll just stop. It's all psycological, your brain thinks it need nicotine and formaldihyde(sp?) and all the other crap that they put in there, but if you truly don't want to smoke anymore, just stop. After a few days you won't even want a smoke.

For the record, I don't smoke cigarettes.

Nicotine has a chemical addiction, has physical (read, physical) withdrawl symptoms, and reduces dopamine production in the long term. It is not completely psychological, and I know this because it took my father something like four years to stop being dependant on cigarettes (and eventually lead him to become more dependant on cannabis that before) and I still see him smoking one every once and a while.

Camron Wozniak
03-11-2006, 12:57 PM
Even though there are actual addictive chemicals, if you want to stop, you will just stop. I say it's all psychological because most people try to stop and their like, "Oh my god, I want a smoke so bad! I guess I'm just too addicted!" Not to mention that most people who try to quit do so because other people want them to, not because they want to.

I guess my point is really just that if you truly want to quit, you will. There is no trying, of you don't want to smoke anymore, you'll just go cold turky and suffer the withdrawl. It's the same with losing weight, so many people try stupid diets and ***** when if you just get up of your ass and go for an hour walk every day, after a month you'll have lost weight.

I say it's all psychological

Did you even read my post? Nicotine has physical withdrawl symptoms. It has been proven so many times that you can't mistake the fact, being that nicotine completely alters your brain chemistry. If it were a "I'm determined, I'm stopping now" sort of thing, it would be much easier. When not on your nicotine method of choice, it will be all-consuming. It is constant, and the longer you were dependant for, the stronger. That is like saying "Hmm, I don't think I will masturbate or have sex ever again."

Oh, and by the way, being fat involves genetics, not addictive chemicals.

Camron Wozniak
03-11-2006, 01:10 PM
Your missing my point.

Yes, it is addictive. But if you really, really don't want to smoke anymore, you won't.

Yes, there is withdrawl. But if your really detemined to quit, you will, plain and simple. My mom quit smoking about a month ago, and she was cranky for a week or so, but she wanted to stop, and she just... did.

99% of peoples problem is that they don't really, beyond any doubt in their mind, want to not smoke anymore. The reason I think it's psycological is, if you are determined to quit smoking, you'll throw your smokes in the garbage and not buy any more. Yeah, there are withdrawl symptoms, but they only last for a week, maybe two if you smoked a lot.

In any case, it all comes down to will. You want to quit, you will, regardless of withdrawl. You don't, and you won't.

Oh, and by the way, being fat involves genetics, not addictive chemicals.

being fat involves self controll and choice, genetics are involved in a big way, but you don't HAVE to be fat. also, obesity GREATLY involves addictive chemicals that reduce your bodies ability to burn calories as well as stunt your metabolism. also, think about it, big macs and chocolate have highly addictive chemicals in them.

If highly addictive chemicals means <10% as potent as nicotine, then you are right. But only a select few people have difficulty getting off chocolate or big mac addictions, and most people have difficulty getting addicted to such things to begin with.

Also, genetics tend to have a much greater effect on your metabolism than chemicals. If it were the other way around, taking a few metabolism pills to increase calorie burning would be the ticket to losing weight, I know this because there are people who engage in physical activity regularly and still have more fat content than I do. Even in times where I eat alot and get little to no real excercise, I remain just as emaciated as before.

and if you can overdose on weed, you'll be feeling good as a mother fucker before you die.

Yesterday I smoked too much cannabis and I was freaked out like crazy. It isn't possible to overdose on marijuana because THC isn't toxic, but I could imagine it would be quite fearful for a n00b like me to take high doses (if what I was on wasn't).

ok, heres how three people who i know quit smoking:
my uncle quit smoking by just stoping one day, not like 5 one day the 4 then 3, he just stopped (i think its called a cold turkey)
My cousin quit simply, he just used those nicotine packet thingys
One older friend who i know quit because he has a girlfriend and he knew that she wouldn't like it if he smoked.
So, if you wanna quit do it by one of these ways, it actually works.
