Are we to into them? I mean seriously do we sometimes go out of our way to get something we don't need? Ofcourse we do... But do you think people are starting to do it to much? I mean everyone wants the $300 iPods and the $100 name brand pants and so much shit they don't even need and could settle for less and not know the difference. Im unsure if today people are to into objects or if they are just to into name brands, or if it is both.

Let me take a quote from Fight Club:

"We work jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need"

It's true isn't it? I mean how many of the people here with a job would honestly work their job for free? None. Now I do understand somepeople have car payments and bills... But do you think we kind of go over kill on it? Ok we can work for a car, but does it need the lights under it and the spinning rims and the hotwheels paint job?

Im not saying that no one should work, Im glad we have people to take care of us and do services, but all Im asking is do you think people are just far to materilistic(sp?) or okay?

I agree. It was funny when you said hot wheels paintjob.
Anyway, thats how it is everywhere (I live in NYC) over here. People will do anything to be cool. I kind of feel bad for these people though, they don't realize how to get friends who like you 'cause you're you. I know it sounded cheezy, but its true.
Anyways, like I always say, I doubt this could change anything.

I know people work jobs and spend earned money to follow a trend. I mean its their money but comeone, couldn't it go towards better things for themselfs.

Why iPod.. so many other better mp3 players. I mean if you're not going for the massive size what else are you going for. Like when you buy the cheap ones, honeslty if it wasn't an iPod would you get it?

i bought a nano beacesu its slim enough that its not uncomfortable in my pocket. people who spend money spend it alot on hobbies which is very nessassary because haveing fun is important. can you honstly think of any other reason you live your day to day life if not for enjoying life?

03-07-2006, 06:57 PM
Yeah i see what your getting at. Like if you need a pair of pants you buy like 1 designer pair for 80 dollars when you could have bought a cheap pair that look the same without the designer brand for like 20 bucks. Same thing with the ipods. There are lots of cheaper alternatives but instead as materialistic boneheads we pay more for the brand and not for the actual quality.

I see some ideas about the hobbies.. I mean but sometimes it isn't... I mean is following trends really a hobbie? Somethings are and some are just to fit in.
