For all of you electric guitar players, what strings do you prefer, both brand and size? I just got my guitar fixed up and the guy threw on some D'Addario EXL140s (probably because they were the cheapest 10-52s they had.) I haven't played since I picked up my guitar, but it just made me curious what other people prefer.

GHS are the best!!! I use 10-46 light and Willie and MArk from Lamb of God uses them too. Zakk Wylde have signature TNT (Thin-Thick) strings too.

Alright, so I just played it, and I don't know if it's the strings or the bridge adjustment or the truss rod adjustment or what, but I absolutely hate it. I was using 9-42s, but they died quickly because I play hard (though I don't produce a hard sound like the guy at the shop must have assumed). He suggested going to 10-52s. Now, for some reason, playing my guitar now at the same volume and gain level of my is REALLY hard and distorted. I didn't know it would make that much of a difference, but I can't stand it, and I'm kind of pissed now.

No, I don't want a hard sound. That was my point. These made it sound too hard. The music I write has a nice bright sound to it.

I'm playing with fender bullets on my tele. I'll probably stick to those, but I usually always by elixers other then that. Just an amzing sound and they last forever.

so get new strings, and learn how to restring yourself, its saves money and its not hard at all

Actually, I sorted out the problem by tweaking my amp a bit. And I can restring, there were other repairs that needed done, and if I were to restring to bigger sizes like he did, I would have had to do bridge and truss rod adjustments, which I don't want to do myself.
