i'm guessing you're mainly referring to lyrics but in my opinion lyrics are easily the least important aspect of music

I think lyrics are one of the most important aspects actually. For me that's what makes a song so relatable you know? It's definitely the main reason I like bands like the Smiths, because their lyrics seem to speak to me and all that clichéd shit.

ah i get that, i just don't listen to much music with upfront and clearly discernible lyrics. vocals themselves are just so much more important to me than the actual lyrics
