ok, so i use spotify on a daily basis, and have almost every song i love stared on it so i have a sort of "ultimate" playlist. the only problem is, i can only access it on my computer. so now that i have a job, i was thinking of subscribing to spotify premium. its 10 bucks a month for unlimited music and they also let you listen to playlists offline. and no ads, the most annoying part of spotify. they only problem is that is like an hour and half of work.

so what does sbc think, is an hour and a half worth unlimited music.

Get premium, just so ya don't ever have to hear about Andre 3000's Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler again.

I know there's an Android app for it, and it is free. You could always just use it through your phone's browser, that should work I think.

I know a few people who have Premium, and they say it's the best money they spend every month.

I'd say go for it.

Spotify genuinly has made piracy old fashioned...

Not if I have to pay for it it hasn't...

Music will never be free, and it shouldn't be.
Nothing in life is free, and i genuinly think Spotify is brilliant value for what it is.

There are entire record labels that give their music for free.

Not enough of a records sale goes to the artist to make it worthwhile. I'd much rather go to a show if I wanted to support them, which I do rather often.

But you'll admit they are a niche minority and that they won't cater to as many tastes as either torrents, buying music, or subscription streaming services...

I know, but it goes along with what crailtap said. So many record labels reap the benefits from their artists and treat them like shit. I just think it's bullshit when people go on about "supporting the music they listen to" by buying their songs off iTunes, even though the musician most likely won't see a dime of that. And I know for a fact that it's the same case for Spotify.

I'll be the first to argue that record labels get rich off of artists talents, but are you suggesting that we shouldn't pay for any music that's on a big label? In which case... Who decides which labels are acceptable to pay for?

My favourite way to purchase music is directly from the musician after a gig, hard cash for a CD, but lets be fair - i'm never going to see half the bands/artists i listen to live!

I'm not saying don't pay for music. I'm just saying if you do, make sure you know where it's going.

And it comes to a point where piracy (or even profits, what little there is, from sales) doesn't really affect bigger, established bands/artists, which is what record companies and music services push. When it comes to smaller, local bands, I have no problem going to see them and giving directly to them.

That's cool, i can agree with that!

oh ok. well that's not exactly what im looking at. really this thread was whether sbc thought it was worth it given my situation, not other music streaming sites. the thing that just appeals to me so much is the offline mode, but i just can't seem to dive in.
