A new page entry has been added:

Normal Stance

There are two kinds of normal. Depends what had you are. If your left handed then your right foot should be forward. If your right handed then you left should be forward. Choose whichever way you are more comfortable with.
If your left foot forward you are regular.
If your right foot forward you are goofy.. Good Luck!

No that is fine if it feels right. If it feels natural ride that way. I myself am a Right handed goofy.

I'm right handed and can ride regular, however, I ollie goofy. The main reason I ride regular is because i rode regular on scooters. Should I try to learn to ride goofy or learn to ollie regular?

I'm right handed and can ride regular, however, I ollie goofy. The main reason I ride regular is because i rode regular on scooters. Should I try to learn to ride goofy or learn to ollie regular?

hey...i may be a noob at this web but i've been skating for awhile...it's ok to ride regular and ollie goofy cause my friend is the same way but i told him that it's best to stick to one stance because it'll be hard to do alot of the tricks...for example, say like you wanna boardslide a rail that's low to not get nutted and high enough to do a small ollie...you would have to pedal regular and then ride switch to do that...what i told my friend was the best way to correct this is to skate in one stance...since you can ollie goofy, it's best to skate goofy...if you wanna go regular, then learn how to ollie in a regular stance...i think that solves your problem...if not, then just let me know...name's 808skater so yeah...just message me for any other problems you need help on...

p.s. if your wondering why i'm on this forum, it's because my friend needs help on the skating thing too...but he just started and he tried to go down a 4 foot ramp...busted his lip by that...lol...

Yeah dude, listen to this guy, it doesn't matter bout what handed you are, stick to what you feel right about, i skate both and im only right handed. it doesn't matter what hand u right with, you just gotta learn tricks the way u feel u can do them better, like i like dropping in better goofy, and i do flips better regular, this guy is talking bulls**t. don't listen to these people that think they no it all, you are your own person and youdo what you thinks better, don't get told what to do, skateboardings fun, don't take shite from anyone. keep skatin. chris...

i got a problem...this site says that to find your stance you need to kick a ball..which ever foot u kick it with will be ur pushing foot. and for me i should eb normal stance. but i push better in a goofy stance but when i attempt to do an olly i feel more comfortable with normal stance.. so if i can push better with goofy but do olly better with normal what stance should i be

well you might feel better pushing goofy, but really who really feels "good" when they first start in their normal stance? you might feel shaky for a while, but you should concentrate on feeling "better" at pushing both regular and goofy, you [should] end up feeling comfortable in both stances (i hope that made sense)

ive been riding goofy for a really long time now but i think its harder for me to land tricks goofy, so im changing my stance to regular since i can pop harder with my right foot and its sort of like starting all over again.. any tips?

This is one reason why the page said right handers should have their left foot foward. Because Goofy right handers have to pop with their left foot (which is obviously weaker than their right foot)
that being said I myself am a goofy right hander.....

That's kinda the same for me, i feel more comfortable riding goofy( i push it mongo though) especially riding down hills and stuff, but i do all my tricks regular. I can still ride regular it just feels a bit weirder. I drop into halfpipes goofy, i can sorta do it regualr just not as smoothly though, and it doesnt feel as good. Anyway should I try and get better at riding regular or try and learn tricks in goofy?
i think the reason for this is because i learnt to ollie regular without moving and when i started moving around on my board i rode goofy.

I heard this is a good way to kniw which you are if you're not sure. Run at the board and jump on it. Whichever foot lands forward naturally is the foot that should be forward.

Okay this is for all the people who are just learning saying "i push goofy but ollie regular" or "i push with my left foot but ride regular" that is mongo. its a very bad habit to get into. believe me. im trying to get out of it. it sometimes completely ruins you if you need speed when rolling up to a set cus you have to switch stance real quickly.if you ride regular stick to pushing with your right foot. if you ride goofy stick to pushing with your left foot

So i'm not doing anything unusual by pushing with my left foot, riding and ollieing goofy?
I mean i dont care if it is cause its comfortable :D I just thought i was the one doing it odd and my friends were right. meh?..

:-D Its kindof a problemo... unless of course it is comfortable for you.. .which would be weird.. but typically, if you are right handed, left foot goes front.. try it like that :)

You shouldn't go by any of what the first post says. I'm right handed and I skate with right foot first (goofy). It all depends on you what your comfortable with.

im the same as you man, as i started to skate i never chose a stance i just use both goofy for ridin and regular for tricks, so when i ride i quickly jump off the board and get back on in regular stance and do a trick, or u can ride mongo with ur back foot on the tail and push with ur front then get on, these arent the best ways for a stance though so u could try learning how to ride regular and keep doin tricks regular, it took me a bit but i got the hang of it and now i could ride both ways and do tricks in regular :-/

basically stick with whatever you think is right. its all preferance. if u push bettr goofy, then do that. or work on pushing normal. if u ollie etter norm, but push bettr goof, then try to work on one of them so you can do everything with the same stance.:-\

If you push with your Right Foot you're Regular

If you push with your Left Foot you're Goofy.

What hand you write with generally doesn't matter. Whatever feels more comfortable your body is gonna want to use that stance naturally.
