Those would be your "Fret Dots"

They're just they're to help you see where your hand is sliding to...

Usually there are fret dots on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 12th Frets...

In other words...

Let me get a picture to explain it...

I'll post now again

the fret dots are 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21. and that 7-7-10-7-5-3 on a string is how you play seven nations army.so i dunno what you're friends were talking about.

I'm actually almost certain that the fret dots help with Scales, EG: Pentatonic scale, however, im not a hundred percent certain about that.

For now all you need to know about the dots is this: They play well together!

7 7 10 5 3 2

is the 7th fret

One is right at the head of the guitar (normally the head is where you tune your strings)
So - the first fret would be the first gap... then you have the little metal line and after that comes the second fret.

Sooooooo 7 7 10 5 3 2 would be the 7th fret, 7th fret, 10th fret, 5th fret, 3rd fret, 2nd fret...

And I suppose you'd play that all on the top string - one at a time...

It's so you don't get mixed up when looking at the frets. Easier to indetify which is which.
